About Me

Travelling for me has been best enjoyed by the times that I felt a little out of my element and got to talking and hanging out with new people who I'd never met before. Sometimes the best moments happen out of that... :) I'm new to this but being able to see the world and expand my comfort zone is better than I ever thought possible in so many ways.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm really here to explore life outwards, to try to be brave, and to go to new places - going around by myself for a little while in different countries sounds great. I want to meet you and your friends and have some good nights out, I want to go deeper than the surface that people always interact with when they're in different countries than their own. Couchsurfing seems like such a great way to do that. I would be honored and thrilled to be invited to come to stay with you for a little bit. :)

Interests

I love music and journaling and coming up with little lovely phrases that describe the small profound things in life.

I write pretty often. I like philosophy, interesting ideas about how to change the world, yoga, hiking, physical activity, being quiet outside, reading occasionally; I love beautiful things in general and love feeling the truth of my place in nature along with everything. I love dreaming about life: my dream is in helping people by creating new standards of living, by thinking about how to improve and understand one's behavior as best as possible; I love the idea of being fulfilled.

I am up for anything. Loving others and being in the middle of your own existence, and caring that you are feeling very present and available inside yourself is my optimum. To be home in yourself is to be mindful; I am a peaceful person at heart, and I'm excited to continue meeting the world through others' lives.

Music, Movies, and Books

Sigur Ros is my absolute favorite band of all time. if you like them, I can already tell you I'm going to get along with you very well :) I also love alt-J, Neutral Milk Hotel, Local Natives, Death Cab for Cutie, Jens Lekman, Beach House, Belle and Sebastian, Radiohead, and Tycho. so more of the harmonic, thoughtful, complex, sometimes easy listening type; but finding out what people's favorite songs are and why is one of my favorite things to do.

My favorite books are always the ones that describe detail and thought process the best. Haruki Murakami has been an amazing author for me to read, I love how easily he tells his stories. It inspires me to do better when I write poetry. I love how full Virginia Woolf makes her sentences sometimes, how precise Hemingway makes his at others. Charles Dickens and Jane Austen are old friends with a cup of tea. Steinbeck and Kerouac keep me in the moment in different ways. Junot Diaz and JP Sartre keep me in touch with my humanism and existentialism.

My favorite movies are these: Almost Famous, Across the Universe, Superbad, Dances With Wolves, Lost in Translation, Her, Short Term 12, When Harry Met Sally, Moonrise Kingdom, Amélie, The Princess Bride, and Dead Poets Society :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been to Glacier National Park in Montana and hiked some amazing long trails and camped by myself and caught my own fish :) I've been to endless incredible concerts... and still want to go so many more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you everything I know about being happy in life :) I love to think about it a lot and I think I have some practical things to say about how a person can feel good about themselves and their lives as they live it.

I also know that while I know myself pretty well, I don't know how everyone else thinks about things - so it is a treasure for me to interact in good conversation with people.

I'd love to learn how you see the world, and to chill with you and share a really nice experience while I'm in town :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I promise I'll be among the best company you can have if you like good conversations with good people who have good intentions. I like to have people feel like they're well taken care of, and I promise excitement and good attitudes always with whatever we can share.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, France, Ireland, Sweden, United Kingdom
