ABOUT ME

Hi!

I'm very happy to be here! My name is Danny Strack (Dny) and I'm a performance poet from Austin, TX. I run the Austin Poetry Slam, so I frequently host traveling performers, and go on my own tours across the country to various open mics, features and slams.

PHILOSOPHY

The world has always rewarded me for being a good person, but even if it didn't, I would still work to be a better person every day.

I believe that the world consists of cyclical opportunities to expand your experiences, and then separate opportunities to act on those experiences and release your interpretation of them into the world. Thus, creating art is a constant process of filling up like a balloon with experiences, processing them and then pushing out the resulting ideas like releasing air.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I already put up lots of the poets that come through Austin, TX on my couch anyway, so I might as well help out the larger community as well. After I get back to Austin from my tour, I look forward to hosting some surfers on my own couch!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Back in 2007, I went on a short slam tour in Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver with my best friend Tom. During this time we stayed with some of Tom's friends and family on several different couches, and everyone was always so friendly and welcoming. It really reminded me of the fundamental good nature of humanity, and I'm looking forward to more experiences of the same kind!

In 2010, surfed with a lovely group of poets and jugglers in Oklahoma City and in Tulsa. There were great times all around!

For the past few years, I've hosted many, many, many traveling poets and circus performers in my house and it is always a rewarding experience. I hope to continue doing this for years to come.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I recently accomplished a life goal I've been working toward for the past 8 years. I truly believe in the power of each of us to manifest our destiny if we try hard enough.
