About Me

CURRENT MISSION

peanut butter.

ABOUT ME

When I'm not studying architecture in New York I am riding my bike around the world. I just finished a three month solo bike trip through Europe. It was wild.

I'm up for everything and anything. I take everything as a learning experience. Except for applesauce. Keep it away from me, yuck.

PHILOSOPHY

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I usually surf and host on warmshowers.org, a similar site devoted to hospitality for touring cyclists.. But just recently have been using cs more frequently. I think y'all are pretty cool people.

When I'm not traveling I'm trying to explore every facet of this city. I'm always down for a film, a show, a bar, a park, a beach, an eat, a museum, a gallery, an etc. If I can't host, let's hang!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've explored the forgotten lands between towns and cities through America on a bike, re-establishing my faith in the people that live there. Ohio gave me corn and hospitality as well as spirit to continue, Kentucky gave me moonshine, Tennessee music and a full stomach, Mississippi gave me love and friendship, Louisiana gave me mosquito bites and hangovers, and the confirmation that the most important thing to me is the ability to learn and grow from pushing my limits. I have a lot of karma to catch up on.

In Amsterdam I stayed with dumpster divers and hitchhikers, in Utrecht bank managers and music producers, in Delft I stayed at a nudist camp, in Bruges I met a 17 year old biking around the world, in Kortrijk I stayed with retired teachers, Normandy with a carpenter, Paris I went to a slam poetry event and met all the anarchists, in Reims I climbed the cathedral with a nurse in training, in northern France I camped with farmers, in London I met all the posh kids and in Zurich the artists, in Munich filmmakers and graphic designers, climbed the Alps with the sheep, partied with clowns in Verona, stayed with an environmental businessman in Vicenza, and biked to Pisa with a wonderful filmmaker/photographer. And this was all in two months.

...and then, drove around Cuba in a cheap chinese car with 3 other couchsurfers for over a week, hiking mountains, swimming in waterfalls, working on farms, spelunking in caves, invading the beaches, and trying our luck with spanish. We met two days before that.

Interests

everything,
you,
my camera,
air, grass, the sky, the sun, and all those related things falling under the category of "outdoors,"
riding my bicycle through the city,
riding my bicycle through an empty road miles from any form of civilization,
understanding, observing, learning,
being quiet,
being loud,
and dancing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'll tell you in person, it's better that way. But biking over the Alps was cool enough to share here.. and flying legally from JFK to Havana.
