About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Keep writing a diary- ´ I aways keep a diary. I like to have something sensational to read on the train.´ (Oscar Wilde - The Importance of Being Earnest)

ABOUT ME

An intrepid writer and traveller, I am currently travelling the world blogging about my stays in Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Australia and have Asia and India to come. To see more, check out dandoestheworld.blogspot.com

PHILOSOPHY

Why do I live my life? A bit deep, but OK... Well, as far as I can see it, the best thing we can do with our time here is to have as much fun as possible (even if that includes doing serious stuff from time to time to allow the good times to perpetuate).

Fun for me is doing new things. Whether that be meeting new people, exploring new places, and learning new things through experience. The more of that that happens in my life, the better.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

While I am away, I would like to meet other couch surfers and stay with a few so that I can have a unique view of their city and get to see things without being a typical tourist. When I return later in the year I would love to reciprocate and host more people and show people around the best, least know parts of London.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Whilst in Rio, I have met people in town who also happen to be Couch Surfers and have had great stories to tell about their experiences. I have since set myself up on here too and hope to keep growing my own experiences using this great site!

Interests

Writing my blog - dandoestheworld.blogspot.com

Learning Portuguese

Exploring new parts of cities and towns - particularly by hiking, cycling or climbing where possible.

Cooking and learning new cooking styles.

Excercise - anything from running and weights to yoga and rowing.

Exploring parts of cities that tourists wouldn't normally go to to have as much of a unique experience as possible.

Music, Movies, and Books

Well, you know that I'm a fan of Oscar Wilde. I also like Bill Bryson, Terry Pratchett, any books on Philosophy, Psychology and History...

I love Woody Allen movies, minless action films (e.g. most Bruce Willis movies), alternative romantic films (Eternal Sunshine, Amilie, Closer etc.) and gritty realsim films (e.g. Kids, City of God...)

Rock - old and new, Blues, Acoustic, Dance, Folk, Samba, HipHop, Jazz... oh I could go on and on. Bob Dylan, ACDC, Muddy Waters, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Prodigy, Radiohead, Tribe called Quest, Chilli Peppers, Nas... The point is, I love a ton of music, and always like to hear new groups.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I used to train with Royal Air Force Training Corps, including shooting and flying, and used to captain my University rowing squad. I have also lived in Brazil for 5 months and experienced many things, including parading in the Rio carnival.

Teach, Learn, Share

Anyone who likes to share oppinions or thoughts on philosophy, traveling, politics, history, music and culture over a beer or a glass of wine, I'm always keen to get involved.

Countries I’ve Visited
