About Me

ABOUT ME

I try to travel as much as possible, basically. When I'm at home I work to get money to travel. I think to think I'm a decent guy - funny, honest, relaxed. I'll be a good guest! I have been married for almost ten years but at the moment I am travelling alone as my wife couldn’t take time off to come with me, so if you’re female you won’t have to worry about me trying anything!

If you think I'm 'a bit old for this sort of thing', you're dead wrong. I'm young for my age; I could be mistaken for ten years younger. I never want to grow up, but not in a creepy way, like Peter Pan. I'd better leave it there.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It's always great to meet people who live in the place you are visiting. Better knowledge, more cultural understanding, instant friends and, let's face it, it does save a bit of money. I avoid tourist hotels and package holidays like the plague; that's not travelling.

Interests

Travelling, of course, and apart from that hiking is #1 but basically everything you can do in the mountains. I write as well, books and magazine articles and stuff, from which I make a bit of money.

I'm not filling in the 'countries I've visited' part because there's too many. As of January 2020 I'm on 107!

Music, Movies, and Books

I could tell you, but it's not really important to couchsurfing. Are you going to refuse me if I haven't read Catcher in the Rye? (I have).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hmm, travelling across the Sudanese desert on a pickup truck. Diving with a whale shark. There are loads really. Written a book - that was cool.

What I Can Share with Hosts

We can share a drink and a chat about the places we've been or want to go, and we can go out for a hike if you have time. Or whatever else there is to do in your town.

Countries I’ve Lived In

Australia, England, France, South Africa
