About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Dive deep into the unknown. Live, love and play. Continue to discover and be my true self.

ABOUT ME

Creative, active, facilitator of healing, reader, writer, hiker, present-momenter, animal lover, adventurer and just all-around curious person. I enjoy connecting with strangers and making new friends as well as cherish my solitude. When I travel, I seek out unique, off-the-beaten path places to get away, retreat and/or explore. I like to see how folks live in their own town. As a Chinese medicine practitioner, I appreciate all holistic healing modalities, with a special fondness of plants and energy systems. I love all kinds of film, music and food, though these days its mostly documentaries, world music and a conscientious diet. I reserve the right to change my mind, though - on everything, at anytime! I don't like labels and try to respect and accept others and not put them into a box. I'm sort of obsessed with survival non-fiction at the moment. In my free time I enjoy making puppet shows for my nephews, yoga and planning my next trip. I've been lucky enough to have visited all 7 continents but still find roaming around the US and meeting my neighbors to be one of the most mystical and beautiful experiences out there. I like to play tourist in any town, even the one I've called home for several years.

I have been very fortunate to have had many serendipitous moments and chance encounters while traveling - all so humbling and inspiring. I believe the world is nothing short of magical and I continue to have faith in humanity. We can do it!

PHILOSOPHY

"Everyone you will ever meet knows something you don't" - Bill Nye

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am hosted while traveling. S
I show folks around my town, help to make that particular connection: meal, apt, job, ride, social thing, etc. wherever I live or have lived. Would love to host once I have a place that can accommodate.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My introduction to couchsurfing was while deciding to move from Portland to the desert in 2013 and staying with various folks in various towns in Arizona. I loved and immediately embraced all that couchsurfing represents: trust, friendship, connection, new experience and a widening of the circle.

Interests

In my free time, I am usually catching up with a friend, juicing something, being active (even if its just hula hooping), hitting the trails, practicing qi gong, playing board games, petting an animal, watching a movie, cooking (sometimes in my solar oven), conversing, writing, trying something new and sometimes doing absolutely nothing at all.

I like to be involved with community, especially if its a project I feel passionately about and my latest love is flower essences and channel writing. I like brain games, and now travel with my Mastermind board, my most recent yard sale score.

I love hearing people's stories. Everyone has one. Whether its in the treatment room or in line at the grocery store, I'm all ears. Ask me about my mail art project! - :)

Music, Movies, and Books

There's probably at least one book, movie or band in every genre that I like. I suppose rock takes up most of my ipod, and folk, and hip hop. Netflix says I like 'controversial documentaries' and 'dark comedies.' I read mostly nonfiction - just finished "Endurance" (again), "Born to Run" and "Unbroken" - oo, yeah.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After graduating from acupuncture school, I spent 3 months volunteering at a medical clinic in a farming village outside of Kathmandu, followed by a 10 day trek in the Himalayas - an experience that changed my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love exchanging ideas, spreading the word about acupuncture and flower essences, being silly and sharing stories and experiences.

I have so much to learn! I would love to learn more about gardening, Spanish, guitar and how to tune up a bike. Also anything about starting a business.

What I Can Share with Hosts

So happy to share my love of flower essences, qi gong, channel writing, craniosacral therapy and acupuncture skills if needed or desired. I'm also a pretty good cook, handy person (was a woodworker for many years), babysitter and am good with an ax (but not while babysitting, no worries!).

Also, can share the best hike in Sitka, best place to feed wild Lemurs and pick up some really cheap ylang ylang oil, best hot chocolate (Ushuaia), best consignment stores and farmer's markets in Tucson, best sand boarding in Peru, best lobster roll in Maine, secret swim spot outside Portland, place to see pink dolphins - if you're lucky, best dive bar in SF and best shop to have a sari custom tailored in Mumbai.
