About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to travel the world while working from a hammock as often as possible.

ABOUT ME

I am Dani (33), a German freelance writer and photographer. I finished my degree in International Business in England (Durham) in 2006 and moved to London afterwards. After living and working in London for three years, I packed up my apartment with my former girlfriend and we set off to travel the world together. Even though the relationship didn't last, I am still traveling, over 4.5 years later. After quitting my corporate job, I was able to build up a new career in travel writing.

As big believers in slow travel, I try to spend quality time in each location. Adapting to the local lifestyle, we develop habits in each place, whether that means finding a regular bakery I visit in the morning, finding my favorite market or bars to spend the evening in, I believe in experiencing what life is really like in each place. This is why I am a huge fan of the Couchsurfing concept which allows me to meet locals who can provide me with off-the-beaten-path tips, get to know neighborhoods outside of the town center and the chance to be involved in local activities rather than just seeing the tourist sights.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted couchsurfers informally for years when I lived in London and our second bedroom was in high demand for friends, relatives and people who wanted to visit London (we had our room listed on another website, not Couchsurfing).

Now that I am traveling myself, I am hoping to be hosted by like-minded people who are interested in traveling and meeting new people. As a guest I am very uncomplicated and easy-going and do not ask for much.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted several couchsurfers in our London flat and in my New York apartment in 2013 and it was great fun to meet everyone and learn about all the places they had been and where they were from. Now that I am on the road, I really look forward to sharing stories and meeting locals everywhere we go.
