ABOUT ME

A friend described me as a very simple person brimming with ideas. I am trying to ask more thoughtful questions and listen more as I believe in principle I can often learn much more this way, so feel free to be direct with me and tell me to shut up anytime. Through my openness and loquacity I sometimes give others the impression that I do not listen to them or deem what they say as not important--ironically from the very people whose stories and experiences I highly value, quote and refer to again and again! I often explore and argue others' ideas in my desire for my and others' deeper understanding, which offends others and causes them to criticize me in more trivial and vague ways. I believe CS is more about exchanging/sharing experiences and ideas than anything else (and I find people have more meaningful things to share than they believe). Yet though my time might be short with others, I will strive to stay more on the listening end. But if invited me to answer a question, if time permits I would much rather tell you a story or express a genuine thought than a predictable four word answer.
I pursue life experiences and interpersonal exchanges as passionately as many people chase after material things and social status. Most of my life has been devoted to writing, reading, developing my aesthetic sensitivity, social scientific and analytical skills, increasing my knowledge of the universe and globalization, maintaining my health in a holistic way, and traveling through over a hundred countries the past four to five years. My only current plans is to finish seeing the rest of the world, obtaining a PhD in the social sciences and hopefully becoming a researcher and professor which should fill in the next ten years of my life. Well, I think the rest of you can contribute to this.

PHILOSOPHY

My parents always told me just to do the best you can and so I try to do that in everything, and not be discouraged whatever obstacles I face.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Informal ones. I stayed with a Mexican family unexpectedly when I visited them to reassure them that their son was still safe at the border after failing to cross into the United States four times (no problem, they told me--he had done that five times already). Plenty of other places, plenty of other stories...
