About Me

Hey y'all
I'm a goofy kid who grew up in the metropolis of Shanghai, China; then moved to to Austin, TX, USA for my undergrad in Chemical Engineering. In 2019, I did an exchange semester in Zurich, Switzerland & fell in love with the life in Europe. Eventually, I moved back to the beautiful city of Zurich to continue my studies in 2020.
I went on quite a bit of solo adventure in Europe due to the conveniency of public transportation (I love love trains). It sounds a bit cliché but I'm very much interested in learning about everything. I find myself in a rut constantly when staying in my comfort zone for too long - thus I love to challenge myself and explore new experiences (like always ordering different items on the menu bc it's always an adventure!).
Anyways, enough about me. I hope to meet you soon and let's talk about anything and everything :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been on Couchsurfing for a while now & met some very interesting people during my days of couchsurfing and they really added some sparkles to my adventures. I had a conversation about the world energy crisis with someone in Bergen, who happened to be a post doc in Geology. I learnt about swiss cooking with someone when I first moved to Zurich and didn't have a place to stay. I tried the best tapas with someone in Barcelona, who took me to their secret favorite place. Someone hosted me in Oslo had his grandfather painted by one of my favorite painters Edvard Munch. I did a mini wine tasting and learnt about the alcohol culture in Stockholm because the host worked for the national alcohol distributer in Sweden. I had the best time in a Schlagerbar in Hannover and spent the night talking about random stuff in the host's garage with their friends over beers from a mini-fridge and camping chairs; I also sat on the backseat of the motorcycle and had the moment of the lifetime on the German Autobahn (with no speed limits!).

The list goes on and on. It's fascinating to me to see the world differently through someone else's lens, and I would never be able to achieve that on my own (duh!)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: alternative rock/indie/classical/ British Rock/70s,80s
Movies: It's a weird mixture of brainless blockbusters filled with fancy special effects & individual/indie movies with profounddddd meanings and makes me question my life afterwards
Books: Used to be a book worm but I should start reading more!

Now more in a sitcom phase during which I've watched the majority of popular ones: Friends, HIMYM, Seinfeld, The Office, Brooklyn 99
...and the British comedies: Black Books, The IT Crowd, Miranda, Little Britain, Monty Python

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Germany by myself to do an internship for 2 months, then backpacked to 5 other countries on my own again :)

Update:
Went to 4 countries in Scandinavia, survived. Two days into my solo backpacking trip, my wallet got stolen on a bus in Copenhagen. But somehow I survived the next two weeks without a penny in my pocket. I also decided to buy art instead of food when I encountered an amazing ceramic artist in the Tyskebryggen, and they're still hanging on my wall, perfectly intact after I moved countries three times!

Teach, Learn, Share

From Shanghai, China, study in Austin, Texas, USA. German fanatic. I guess my diverse culture background can be interesting!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would say I'm a fanatic for food and quite a decent cook. I love to try out different cuisines/attempt to recreate them in my kitchen. So I would love to share this part of my passion with you! I'm also pretty easygoing so I'm practically down for any fun activities suggestions!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
