I am the Artistic Director of Agile Rascal Bicycle Touring Theatre — America's first and only theater company that tours new works on two wheels.

Our mission is to make the arts accessible, promote sustainable travel, and inspire reverence for our natural landscape wherever our two wheels can take us.

When I'm not on a bike tour, I'm usually, well, planning the next one!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm probably on a bike trip! I might be alone or I might be with a lovable crew of artists and thespians who need a backyard to camp in, a shower to rinse of in, and if you let us do our laundry at your house we'll be your best friend forever.

I love to travel by bicycle and use almost anything as an excuse to get on my bike and go for an adventure. I love meeting new people, swapping stories and getting a little window into other people's lives, and giving them a glimpse of my world as well.

Interests

I do my best to keep a well rounded life, but all the demands of life as well extreme interests such as cycling and art-making can interfere with that.

Someday I'm gonna learn to play the drums, I swear.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music – Kate Bush, Joanna Newsom, Orchestral Manouevers in the Dark, Romeo Void, Peter Gabriel, Talk Talk, Jon Hopkins, Wild Beasts, Bat for Lashes, Lydia Ainsworth, Until the Ribbon Breaks. These days lots of electronic music on soundcloud probably made by 13 year old boys in Germany in their parents’ basements.

Reading – Miranda July, George Saunders, Michael Chabon, Jeffrey Eugenides, Carson McCullers, Lorrie Moore, Tony Kushner, Young Jean Lee, Wallace Shawn, Susan Lori-Parks, the first 100 pages of lots of non-fiction books.

Movies – Admittedly, I kinda quit movies. Four years of film school was enough. Nevertheless, here’s an outdated list – Harold and Maude, Daisies, Labyrinth, I <3 Huckabees, True Stories, almost everything Charlie Kaufman ever wrote, almost everything David Lynch ever made. These days though I pretty much only like to watch old black and white movies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I started a theatre company and in 2015 we biked across the United States, performing our original play in 17 cities and towns across the country. It nearly killed us, but when it was over half the group said, "What's next?"
