About Me

Natural born wanderlust who loves living in the moment - appreciating the PRESENT - and jumping into spontaneity. Exploring, taking risks, and saying YES as much as possible is how I end up living with my heart more than my head :). I love to engage in vibrant, open-ended conversations about this crazy planet we live on. My sense of humor can be sarcastic and a little kooky (like myself), but over all I'm a pretty low maintenance, laid back lady who is easy to please and hard to bore. To me, the thrill of traveling is the uncertainty you face and the stories and lessons that form as a part of it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Half of traveling is not merely the places you go, but the people you experience them with. I love experiencing places from an inside perspective, not just seeing them from a distance. Connecting with other people, whether we agree on everything or very little or even nothing at all, is an essential aspect of personal growth — and when traveling, allows me to continually re-examine my perspectives and morals. The CS community provides one of the most authentic ways of expanding one's knowledge of the world and of experiencing all the colors it radiates. This is why I am here :).

Interests

I'm an introvert with bouts of extroversion...sometimes I waltz, sometimes I tango

Laughing, reading, writing, cooking/experimenting in the kitchen/hosting intimate gatherings involving food and wine, holistic health, discovering music, experiencing music, watching films, meandering the great outdoors, getting lost with adventurous souls, picnicking under the Sun or Moon, drinking delicious coffee, tea or maté...***gourmandizing on FOOOD, on terroir-driven, REAL or "natural" wine and mezcal and local flavors in all their forms***, photography, the Arts in general, existentialism, surrealism, sarcasm, etc...

Also, dancing, biking, hitchhiking, camping, rock climbing, skiing, people-watching, and watching people people-watch (ha ha :) among others...

Let it be known that I am madly in love with cheese and deeply fascinated by the world of wine (particularly smaller producers working organically/biodynamically and/or employing regenerative agriculture philosophies)...this is my world right now. Learning everything I can about wine and its many arcs.

Music, Movies, and Books

I find it nearly impossible to have favorites as my tastes directly coincide with my own development, evolving and transforming as time goes on, so instead of having one, I have many. (Don't we all?)
This is one topic I could talk about for hours and hours...

Music wise, my taste runs the literal gamut...I listen to a wide spectrum of music that is entirely mood dependent save a few genres that I can listen to anytime, anywhere...
Jazz, soul, rocknroll, blues, downtempo, lounge, house, afrobeat, disco, bossa nova, classical, psychedelic/garage/surf rock, post punk, new wave, shoegaze, funk, world groove, oldskool hip hop, trip hop, and other avant garde and classic genre-bending styles...

Literature and scholastic pabulum are also mood-dependent..
Some cherished books include: Dharma Bums, The Alchemist, The Wisdom of Insecurity, Les Fleurs du Mal, Le Petit Prince, Fiesta: The Sun Also Rises, Man's Search For Meaning, Brave New World, The Motorcycle Diaries, The Odyssey, Siddhartha, Memoirs of a Geisha...

Wisdom:
Alan Watts, Rumi, Sogyal Rinpoche, Rainer Maria Rilke, Thich Nhat Hanh
Recently been delving into the worlds of Hermès Trismigestus, Jung, Hegel, and Slavoj Žižek

Some favorite directors...Sofia Coppola, Darren Aronofsky, Stanley Kubrick, Christopher Nolan, Jean-Luc Godard, Francois Truffaut

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Jumping out of an airplane in both hemispheres...

But the list is long and ongoing...to be discussed!

Teach, Learn, Share

Sharing is caring is learning is listening is teaching is growing...

When in doubt, when everything stops making sense (insert naïve melody here) tilt your head back towards the sky and laugh :)
