About Me

Hi, I'm Dasha! I live in Moscow and work as a graphic designer from home. My work allows me to travel without going on vacation, and it's also not very sophisticated in terms of graphic design, so I always try to learn more and acquire new skills. I finished studying (Swedish language & literature) two years ago, but I still love learning – I want to be more knowledgeable, but I also love to expand my horizons by travelling.

About a year ago I also got into (watching) figure skating which is what drives me to travel the most right now. It also reignited my love for photography, so now I want to travel and see more competitions and take more photos!

I'm quite talkative and outgoing, though I'm fine by myself - I enjoy just walking in a foreign city/country and taking everything in. but I also love meeting new people! If I hit upon a topic I enjoy, I can talk a lot and quite loudly, too. Music is the thing that always brings me joy - I'm nearly always listening to something. I used to play piano but now that I live without a piano, I mostly play guitar – and I sing, as well! I'm always eager to learn new languages, though not that many can fit into my head. Currently I'm trying to focus on learning Japanese. I've studied Swedish and a lot of general Nordic stuff at the uni, so I'm always ready to share random info about that. I can easily ramble about fandom & different obsessions of mine, as well.

I don't tolerate prejudices, stereotypes, any kind of discrimination.

I absolutely LOVE cooking (and trying out new receips). If I'm staying at your place, it would be my honour to cook for you :) I don't like alcohol (just personal taste), only very sweet ciders sometimes, but I don't mind if you drink at all. same with smoking.

I'm currently getting more and more into web-design and computer sciences (not hardcore, but dipping my toes in), so if we have that in common, that'd be awesome. :D

I also really love to use languages other than my native (Russian), so I'm always looking forward to meeting new people wherever I visit!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Would love to meet local people & get closer to the country I'm visiting, offer some of my own experiences, thoughts and knowledge :)

I would also love to offer a place to stay later when I'm a bit more established in my home country (or somewhere else?, but for now I'd be glad to meet up & chat & maybe invite you for tea? So that's a thing! Don't be afraid to hit me up.

Music, Movies, and Books

way too many to list. I guess I can say that I love classical music (Brahms is my lifeline), soundtracks, some specific musicals, rock, indie, folk, but generally don't distinguish by genre. I love a lot of Russian rock & minstrel folk, but if we talk English-language bands and artists, I'm into Metric, Divine Comedy, Arctic Monkeys, Mother Mother, Editors, I Am Kloot and some others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

got myself a girlfriend all across the globe

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to learn, so whatever you're up to! especially computer things and languages.
I know some guitar basics, I guess I can teach some piano (I've been playing since I was a child, but I'm not sure how well I am at teaching others) and I'm always up for singing sessions :D I know Photoshop and Lightroom fairly well. also, languages.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook you food! play guitar & sing, including songs in Russian. can ramble at you forever about languages, history, figure skating and just share random tidbits of knowledge! whatever fits.
