Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently, I would like to meet people as I travel. When I establish myself a bit more at home, I would like to host people and show them the tucked away corners of Chicagoland.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to couchsurfing. When I was younger my family rarely traveled but on the few occasions that we did, we often left without a clear destination. Instead, we stopped randomly along the way at places that appeared interesting and slept in the car.

As adventurous as these trips were, the parts that really stick out are those when we heard the stories of the few people we met along the way and the moments when we stopped, stepped back, and recognized how far we were from home.

MUSIC: I really love American Folk Music, Female fronted bands, music that tells a story, music that pushes the definitions of music, I'm currently dabbling in electroacoutic music and some experimental styles. Performers that I've been listening to lately:
Hurray For The Riff Raff, Laura Stevenson and the Cans, Beirut, Le Tigre, Tegan and Sarah, Regina Spektor, The Mountain Goats, Bjork, Fionna Apple, TV on the Radio, Jana Hunter, Leadbelly

MOVIES: I'm so very behind with movies. But a few that come to mind right now are: James and the Giant Peach, The Royal Tenenbaums, Killer Klowns From Outer Space, Dead Alive, Labyrinth, Me and You and Everyone We Know
(I bet there are others that I really like but that I'm failing to remember)

RADIO AND PODCASTS: I really love radio and listen to a number of podcasts including: Radiolab, This American Life, Radio Diaries, The Moth, This I Believe, WireTap, Third Coast International, Transom, StoryCorps, Hearing Voices, The Poetry Magazine Podcast...
