About Me

Hola! que tal? I'm daro, experienced host and traveller looking forward to meeting new people, visit new places, make friends and share good times. I'm pretty chill and easy going, born and raised in Montevideo. I've traveled the world and I lived in São Paulo (Brazil) for some years. Architect by degree, designer by passion. I run a graphic publication studio called microutopías.

«Find life experiences and swallow them whole. Travel. Meet many people. Go down some dead ends and explore dark alleys. Try everything. Exhaust yourself in the glorious pursuit of life.» — Lawrence K. Fish

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I simply love to travel and connect with people.. and I'm really into this community, for years now.
Since I've joined CS I've shared countless positive experiences and I've met amazing people from many different places. I've been Ambassador of São Paulo and Montevideo (currently), CS greeter, moderator and organizer of the Montevideo Weekly Meeting, in the past 15 years..

To move, to breathe, to fly, to float. To gain all while you give. To roam the roads of lands remote. To travel is to live. — Hans Christian Andersen

Teach, Learn, Share

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous? Actually, who are we not to be? It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.. and when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. —Marianne Williamson

What I Can Share with Hosts

Basics from Uruguay: GSM 1800/1900, electricity: 220V/50Hz, phone code: +598 /02, prices: https://preciosmundi.com/uruguay

Some hot spots (more in Favorites section): Old town pedestrians, rambla seawalk and parque rodó, sunset at Ramírez beach, CCE (Spain cultural center), Subte (exhibition gallery), MNAV (visual arts museum), EAC (contemporary art center), CdF (photography center), mirador IM (panoramic viewpoint), feria tristán narvaja on sundays (flea market), free walking tour (from Independence square), turistic bus (to check more tradicional atractions).

About Architecture: Montevideo has a very rich architectural heritage, collection of buildings ranging from neoclassical to the postmodern. The city preserves examples of different eras, styles and trends such as Art Nouveau and Art Deco. These include the Jose Artigas Railway Station, Centennial Stadium, Montevideo Cathedral, Club Uruguay, Ciudadela Gate, Salvo Palace, Cerro's Fortress, Legislative Palace, Solis' Theater, Antel Tower and the colorful Reus neighborhood to name a few. There are also particularly beautiful examples of the sculpted ceramic tile and brickwork designed by the world-renowned engineer Eladio Dieste.

We drink MATE, and when we say "mate" that could mean the drink (tea-like beverage derived from yerba mate tree leaves) and also the cup-container (hollow gourd) where we drink it.. you'll find many people carrying the mate/flask all around. Just try it!
