Hi there, I'm Darren, pleasure to meet you. I'm brand new to this site so I don't have any references (yet!), so I will be immensely grateful to whoever takes a chance on me. A little about me - I am a musician (guitar, bass, songwriting, recording), artist (print making, painting), game designer (table top and video game), and just all around nerd. I studied economics in school and enjoy history, architecture, museums, and exploring parks and going on nature walks. And I really love karaoke, even though I'm not the best singer in the world :(

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm going to be traveling through Europe this summer (2024) and want to have new experiences and meet people who can teach me / show me something about the place I'm staying. And what better way to experience a new place than through the locals?

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: anything with a good hook! Classic rock is near and dear to my heart (Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Beach Boys, Queen, etc), 90's rock (Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, Oasis, Weezer), pop (Michael Jackson, Prince, up through more modern stuff), but I also enjoy classical music, video game music, indie, electronic, dance, funk, there's so too much to name.

Movies: I'm a big time nerd so Star Wars trilogy, Lord of the Rings, the Matrix, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Terminator (or really any Arnold movie) just to name a few.

Books: dystopian novels, philosophy, sci fi, fantasy

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I wrote and recorded an album which I'm pretty proud of. And it only took 12 years!

Oh, I also built a guitar totally from scratch.

And I published a board game.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd be happy to do some chores around the house, but would also enjoy sharing a meal, drinks, and stories. I would really love to explore your town together and to be shown the things you love about it. I can also give you guitar lessons if you have a guitar! And if you have two, I'd love to jam with you.
