About Me

I'm and adventurer, or well, I want to be an adventurer. I'm not there yet, but I think it's a good goal. Some day I want to be the old bearded grandfather will cool stories that I can embellish to make kids thing I really did ride a unicorn!

I'd like to think I'm a bit old school in my life philosophy, I'm more interested in experience than in notching things off a list, and I'd take lunch and a chat with a local about culture and history any day over a photo-op at something I've already seen in pictures a thousand times.

When it comes to travel, my list of countries is pretty short, I've made an effort over the past few years to see as much of my own country as I can in order to be a proper ambassador for it when I find myself abroad. And while there is still far more of Canada that I haven't seen, I think I'm off to a pretty good start!

Music, Movies, and Books

I've always had a rough time with favourites, but here goes:

Music: pretty much anything - questionable when it comes to current pop music (but I have been known to rock out to T-Swift on occasion)

If I had to choose: fav musical genre would probably be local maritime music from Eastern Canada (celtic rock, folk, etc) - artists like Joel Plaskett, Great Big Sea, The Stanfields, Hey Rosetta, JP Cormier; to name just a few... Big Pearl Jam fan, also Garth Brooks

Movies: sci-fi/fantasy stuff - Hobbit, LOTR, Star Wars, I watch adventure documentaries as background almost constantly. Favourite movie is The Ghost and the Darkness Big fan of pre-2000 comedy, back when funny movies didn't have to be dirty.

Books: adventure books, biographies, children's books, anything.. if I can get lost in it, I'll keep reading it :)
I just finished reading "Living the Best Day Ever" - a memoir/biography of Hendri Coetzee, a South African adventurer/whitewater kayaker. AMAZING, totally changed the way I look at adventure

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm not sure what I can share specifically, but I love to learn (things, people, places, doesn't matter, too much information isn't possible!) It's great sitting down with people from different places/cultures and seeing the differences and similarities that we all share.
