About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Living life's adventure and making new global friends and contacts.
ABOUT ME
I am a fairly chilled out chap :-) with 24 years in the military under his belt, has one or two sea stories.
Been living a mid-life crisis for a while now lol, but we think b@//@cks, I are living life to the full! I believe you only have one life and you have to live it to the full. Only one problem is there is not enough hours in the day, days in the week in years in my life.
PHILOSOPHY
I have too many to say but our motto is -
'You are only limited by your imagination'
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have hosted a number of great guests from all around the world, sharing great experiences and lots of fun. Meeting new and interesting people. Once we have made some new and interesting friends, the world is our oyster!
Interests
I am a big boy scout, loving the outdoors, adventure and adrenaline fuelled stuff. Likes to read, write, take photos, cycle, swim, run (marathons around the world), climb (mountains), walk (anywhere), sky dive (out of perfectly good airplanes), scuba dive (wrecks and even wrecked planes) and ski. With my Jeep and adventure trailer, and a boat, yes a 60ft Widebeam river cruiser, it is about having an adventure. I am a trained chef who can bake a cake, make chocolates and can knock up an awesome soup!

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies - Any really, but not a great horror fan really! Darren is not a ‘scaredy cat’ but just does not like mindless glorified violence.
Music - big U2 fan but have a really broad range of music taste and Radio 4 listener (sad I know but true).
Books - Bloody loads and always reading. Darren’s dream is to write a book one day and own a library.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have travelled many places and struggle to remember half of them whilst he was in the Royal Navy. He still does have plenty of great memories and love to spin dits (stories) over a whisky or pint of guinness. Some things have to be said after a drink, some only to good friends, some whilst close to an exit and some just when you need a good belly laugh.
Teach, Learn, Share
- Darren can teach cookery and how to drink a correctly made gin and enjoy a nice cold Cider.
- I like to learn about other cultures, especially food.
- I love a good board game too!
- I can share many experiences of our travels, having adventures and time in the military around the world. The good, the bad and the ugly.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Lots of stories and laughs.
