About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Pursue my dream of becoming a veterinarian whilst travelling and meeting as many cool people and animals as possible!

ABOUT ME

I was never good at describing myself but I will base it on what others have told me about myself: I am a caring person, if you are my friend you know it. I never leave anyone behind or hang anyone out to dry. I love to inspire others, especially if I am really passionate about something (I dont force anything on people though mind you).

Over the past 5 years I have returned to school and pursued a career in animal health. I became a veterinary technician and went to University as well. I decided that I wanted to become a veterinarian and I have now come one step closer to that dream by being accepted to veterinary school which I start fall 2018.

I am a music lover, I rarely go anywhere, if I am alone, without my headphones in and music blasting. I find it very peaceful to shut out from the noises of the world around me. I am a rolling stone; if I am at rest I like to stay at rest but if I'm up and active I never want to stop.

PHILOSOPHY

Everything happens for a reason. I grew up thinking that I needed to plan my path for life. Instead I have found that once I started to just walk it, I was lead to some good and bad places but I don't regret a thing. Still tons of path left to tread and I really feel good about the future!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Since I am new to couchsurfing, I am looking to experience the surfing side of things. I am moving cities to go to school, I am unfortunately unable to host but I definitely want to return the favour someday!!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet but you have to start sometime!

Interests

I love a challenge, anything competitive really gets me going! this includes sports (love hockey, baseball, golf, bicycle polo, skiing). I also enjoy low-key activities such as watching movies, chilling on a beach or reading a good book. I love seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling something I havent before.

Music, Movies, and Books

HUGE Movie fan, owned over 300 DVDs at one point favs include: Tarantino, Spike Lee joints, LOTR, Star Wars (original trilogy of course) and anything with Steve McQueen (my idle), any movie that I leave the theater with the profound sensation of having my mind blown (The Matrix, V for Vendetta, Saw, Inception, The Prestige, Fight Club, Boondock Saints things like that) But I will give any movie a try.

Music: open to ALL forms of music, it is unfortunate that in one's lifetime you will barely have a chance to scratch the surface of all the music that is out there! Fav bands are Avenged Sevenfold, System of a Down, Flogging Molly, Arcade Fire, Parkway Drive, The Black Keys, The Faint to name a few.

Books:
LOTR series, Harry Potter, 1984, Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, The Hitchkikers Guide to the Galaxy, and Lord of the Flies. I also enjoy reading about animal ethics and the debate about animal rights

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently my partner and I did an 11 day road trip around Iceland. It was the tail-end of winter and one of the best experiences of my life. The country was awe-inspiring and there was so much to see, do, and taste! Some highlights included seeing the northern lights, hiking on a glacier, driving the East Coast Fjords, and experiencing the natural hot baths.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can ice skate very well and I know alot of people who cannot would be glad to teach if the climate was appropriate.

Learn: i have picked up a passion for dancing (nothing formal but just busting a move and not being afraid to do so, would love to learn more!)
I would love to learn more languages - living and traveling in Europe has really opened my eyes to the beauty of language and its importance in the overall culture

Share: If I get going I can tell a pretty good story, usually someone else needs to go first though. Love to share music with others, I am always interested in something I haven't heard before.
