CURRENT MISSION I am currently working in Guangzhou, China during the summer. I am very interested in meeting other couchsurfers! My weeks are very busy but I am free on weekends :) **************************************** I am on a mission to continue to travel the world, see great things, meet awesome people, eat tasty food, and generally enjoy life. And I want to share that experience with others -- both with me traveling to them and vice-versa! ABOUT ME I have a variety of interests, ranging from hiking, to cooking, to travel, to reading, to movies, to music! I love Indian, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese, and Slavic/Eastern Europe/Russian food! I am also very interested in tasting new dishes from around the world :) I love to meet new people and learn about other cultures. Some of my fondest memories are of the dinners I shared with Russian families while living in Volgograd. The hospitality and communal spirit of these events was simply amazing! HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING My friend Danielle and I couch-surfed for the first time in Berlin and Warsaw. It was a wonderful experience and we met such awesome people :) I love the idea of this way of traveling. Meeting new people and experiencing their culture and way of life is so exciting to me! COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE The first time I couch-surfed was informally back in 2008 in Salzburg, Austria. I am not sure if "couch-surfing" was even a word back then. Since then I have couch surfed a number of times. In 2013 I couchsurfed Berlin for three days and twice in Warsaw. Both times were awesome! I loved meeting new people and sharing food and great conversation. In spring 2014 I tried in Brazil (Sao Paulo) but it was difficult to link up with folks so instead I stayed in a cool hostel. That summer I also hung out with a couch surfing host in Daejon, South Korea followed by staying with a great guy in Seoul for a few days. My most recent experiences have been in Traverse City, Marquette, MI, and Minneapolis.

Intereses

Hiking, Cooking & Food, Movies, Reading, Science & Technology, and almost all types of travel! I love to wander around food markets and public parks. I am also quite fond of taking *lots* of pictures!!

I am mostly a fan of classic rock, blues, and country. But I also like jazz and some classical. The Grateful Dead is my absolute favorite band - which should tell you a lot about me!! I love to dance when given the chance :)

I have helped to guide a group of students from the US to St. Petersburg by air, from St. Petersburg to Moscow to Volgograd by train, and then back to Michigan. Did this seven times with a great group of colleagues at MSU!

Oh. I also followed the Grateful Dead around the USA for many years!!
