About Me

Hey! I am a software developer who has recently relocated to London.

Whenever I am not at work, I like to share my hobby of coding by running some coding classes aiming to get more women in tech and overall close the gender gap in the field!

Outside of the technology circle, I normally enjoy socialising over a coffee or a drink at a café or a pub, and of course, travelling!

Whenever I am travelling, I am always on the lookout for opportunities to surf or meet up with locals and/or fellow travellers for good companies. In my opinion, it is worthwhile to sacrifice the comfy beds in an expensive hotel in exchange for enriching experiences that you'd only get if you stay and hang out with locals. You are bound to discover local perks and hidden gems from them that you wouldn't have known about otherwise!

When I am at home, I'm open to meeting/hosting travellers as it's a great way to let the world come to you and make some new friends. As I've moved to London very recently, I'm totally up for discovering the city together with you if I have time! Carpe diem!

If you are requesting to stay with me, please send me a request around 1-2 weeks in advance as most of the time I don't know my plans further ahead and so it's hard for me to say if I can host you or not. Check the "My Home" section of my profile as well which has some important information you should be aware of.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In short, to meet interesting people in walks of life I would not have crossed path with normally, and to extend my friendship network globally along the way.

I wish to connect with the Couchsurfing community either when I am travelling or when I am at home. When I am not travelling, I can host you if I am free at the time of request, meet up to show people around (to the best of my knowledge!) the place I am in, or I am happy to explore the place with you together! When I am a guest, I shall be the curious one and will look to try out anything which will allow me to experience and appreciate the beauty of the host's local culture.

Also, I want to lend a helping hand to travellers in any way I can when they visit, as I think generosity goes a long way and by virtue of karma, some day in the future I will receive the gesture of goodwill when I am most in need.

Music, Movies, and Books

Generally I have a broad taste of music (as long it's not heavy metal!) with favourites ranging from Ed Sheeran, Astrid S and Take That!

In terms of movies, even though I'm not the biggest film buff, some of the movies that I enjoy include Harry Potter, The Hangover and Die Hard. Recently developed some interest in Quentin Tarantino's work such as the very well-known Pulp Fiction.

Although I'm not normally a bookworm, I do enjoy reading a good, classic novel such as Lord of the Flies by Golding.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitchhiked across Europe twice as part of a charity challenge when I was studying at the University of Sheffield! In the second attempt, even though I had to travel further to Riga (as opposed to Split) and in a larger team, I somehow made it to Riga earlier than planned!

Spent an amazing summer volunteering in Catalonia, at a summer camp, as a teaching assistant of English. It was an incredible experience where I get to interact and work with people from different cultural backgrounds; also it was my very first solo trip which has set off my wunderlust!

Teach, Learn, Share

Learning new languages, different cultures, and/or people's interesting life and/or travel stories.

If you are interested in computer and technologies at all, maybe I can try and teach you how to code up a simple website or similar! Alternatively, if you are already a coding expert, more than happy to talk and exchange ideas as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My enthusiasm and openness to embrace and appreciate their culture and personal interests! Also, I can share any travel stories I have and in exchange I would love to hear about yours! Happy to try and help with cooking (even though I'm still improving on that...) or with washing up the dishes afterwards if we are cooking at your place. Alternatively, I am happy to take you out for a meal to express my gratitude that you agreed to host me in the first place!
