About Me
## JUST JOINED COUCHSURFING ; SO HARD TO GET STARTED WITHOUT REFERENCES PLEASE HELP ###
WHY? I was 8 years old when this platform began!!! I recently discovered CS and I really want to make good use of the opportunities to travel the world and meet people during my college years :)
I was raised in Hong Kong, attended an international boarding school in Hangzhou before coming to America to finish high school. I am currently a Cognitive Science and Philosophy of Science Major looking to learn and travel the world before going on into academia and lecturing. I was a competitive swimmer, a 200-point bowler, and wanted to become a pilot and a trauma surgeon, but then fate sent me into more schooling....
I value relationships over everything else - when every plan fails, the people you have are what remains. I would describe myself as an old soul for my age, intellectual and composed, although if you're lucky enough I may occasionally leak my kiddy zeal. I am also fairly open-minded and would try almost anything that seems appropriate.
Sometimes in my overwhelming student life, I lose track of where I belong as I have not settled in one place long enough - I need friends from around the world to remind me of my culture. I am still learning, trying to be receptive to advices and new perspectives every day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am committed to self-growth, and there is no better way to do that than travelling and making meaningful relationships with people from all walks of life and backgrounds. I just joined and paid to verify Couchsurfing, and I want to take full advantage of what the world has to offer, and reciprocate in return. I plan to travel a lot during my undergraduate years, and in the process gain eye-opening experiences and form meaninful connections. I have a lot to share about my culture in Hong Kong / USA too, and if you have never thought been to the Pearl of the Orient or the Land of the Free, I will convince you ;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I single-handedly organized a decade pool-side reunion for my kindergarten class when I was 16. I reached out to parents, ordered custom T-shirts, booked and managed the venue, and handled all the finances. I wouldn't say that was amazing, but that was all done in less than two weeks with the very weak ties I still had with my classmates.
Teach, Learn, Share
Personality psychology, philosophy and spirituality, science, and self-optimization lifehacks. I have also been a Youth Olympics qualified swimmer, a research jorunal copyeditor, Hong Kong Youth Ambassador, and an overseas youth camp facilitator.
I am very eager to learn about the development of civilizaiton structures from an interconnected humanistic approach. Big questions like: Why would our predecessors prefer symmetries in superstition? or Why did hierarchical structures evolve in tandem with our intelligence? really grip me with the amount of meaning. I LOVE inferring patterns in phenomena, especially pertaining to human behavior and thoughts at any scale.
I am an INFJ -T, if you know about Myers-Briggs Personality Indicator.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Food - that's the minimum I can repay my hosts with groceries, takeouts, or souveneirs
Stories - my life is quite punctuated by comical and unusual things (not neccessarily bad, just odd) that happen to me. For example, I got waitlisted, rejected, and then accepted when I was applying to college that I am currently attending. Phew, it really was a ride.
