About Me

Hey! I'm Dasha. I'm from St Petersburg and currently live in Bangkok, working for a really cool startup as a graphic designer & illustrator.
Have a strong interest in photography (was published in some magazines in Russia and looking forward for new collaborations and photography projects).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Last winter I spent 2 months in Israel working in the hostel. I met lots of travellers during those days - they were free, inspirational, interesting and just amazing! Talking to people from other countries (which sometimes counts as other worlds) is an alternate way to travel and get new experience.

PEOPLE I LIKE TO MEET
I think CS is about sharing knowledge, being (or becoming) more open. Honestly, I'm looking for inspiration and some sparks: sometimes being an expat in Asia is very alien-ish and i feel good to break a bit from current community.

Interests

I love travelling, photography and visual arts. I used to dance contemporary for about 10 years, so am very interested in this theme. I love reading books and always am opened to good recommendations, the same can be said about music. Oh, I enjoy playing guitar & ukulele. And I love concerts (personal trauma - somehow not much concerts in Bangkok, cannot imagine why)
Enjoy cooking and baking. Love being outdoors. Love spontaneous trips and adventures. Hate boring and too polished things/people (sorry).

Music, Movies, and Books

Ahhhhh! Too much bands... Coldplay for sincere music and not being afrais to be vulnerable. Death Cab for a Cutie for "Plans" and the best concert in Stockholm on summer 2015. Two door cinema club for being so cosmic (really, live show was stunning). Jamie XX for vibes. Of Monsters and Men for their heartbreaking texts - so much feeling. Bjork for being from another planet. Mumford and Sons for crazy banjo. Muse for incredible power. Beach House for staying themselves all the time. Radiohead for just everything. Bon Iver for Skinny Love, Oasis for Wonderwall. Twenty One pilots for being deep in my head. Jamie T, One republic, Jamiroquai, oh dear....

Hmmm books. Love Russian classics (of course! they are great, and I'm russian). Love creative people's biographies (inspirational, how strong they are! None of them were blessed to get everything done easily, but still they worked hard and believed in themselves). Murakami for slow and surreal things. Houellebecq was depressing, but still a good read. Fitzgerald, Foer, Palahniuk (though him I don't read anymore).

Movies! Tarantino, Guy Ritchie, Scorcese.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My friends say I'm too spontaneous.
Last winter I spontaneously went alone to Israel for 2 months. It was challenging! I was absolutely out of my comfort zone living with 7 other volunteers in a small room, having no solitude which is so important for me. During that time I guess I became stronger and more open-minded, expelled some demons from my head (and for sure got some new), reviewed my value system.
This winter not less spontaneously I moved to Bangkok for work. That's not easy, but I'm getting better and better here.

Teach, Learn, Share

I def can make pictures of you. Also have a pretty tangled story of hobbies, so it's even hard to tell you what can I share. I guess... lots of things? Can be figured out during conversation.

Talking to other ppl helps me looking at different things from another angle. People are very inspirational, actually! So I'm glad to be inspired and to hear interesting stories about travelling, other countries, outlooks.
