About Me
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
After a million miles of business travel, and ten years of retirement, I'm finally willing to venture out from my cocoon. I have my scooter, a change of clothes, and a coffee mug; I'd like to set out to slowly see some of America. This time, not rushing from place to place, drinking life from a fire hose.
Interests
Slow living, slow travel, smelling the flowers and watching the sun both rise and set. I did it all, took the pictures, and can tell you the stories. Now... I'm retired ... and its time to relax.

Music, Movies, and Books
I hate to sound like an airhead politician, but "all of them". I have watched thousands of films made prior to c. 1980. I methodically read my way through the Amer Library Assn list of best english language fiction. I "read" recorded books by the dozens during long business trips. And let me tell you about the cemeteries!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In 20+ years of business travel:
I accumulated one million air miles, months before retiring.
I visited the grave sites of all US presidents: Washington, Adams, Jefferson, . . . Eisenhower, Nixon, Ford, Reagan. Go ahead, name one.
I also visited graves of gangsters (Capone, Dillinger, etc) and industrialists (Ford, Chevy, Milton Bradley); and my favorite poets (Emily Dickinson and Stephen Crane) - A LOT of time to kill.
I also attended baseball games in many MLB parks but favored the lower minors (AA was my favorite). Also, for some reason, I visited famous college campuses (Duke, Drake, Marquette, Gonzaga).
I took 20 years and with TCM, DVDs, and Netflix, have watched every film before 1980 to win an oscar for best picture, director, actor, actress or supporting. I'm 80% through the nominated films (that have not been lost).
Teach, Learn, Share
I've met a zillion people in my life, and spent my career looking for patterns and solving puzzles. Although my pace has slowed and my words sometimes get a little jumbled, I have a bagful of stories that serve as lessons.
