About Me

I'm a very easy going, friendly guy who enjoys good conversation and laughing a lot. I've been working around the world off and on for some years and love meeting new people. I like to hear other people's stories and believe there's always something new to learn from listening what others have to say. I'm also great company in social situations and love a good party.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on Couchsurfing because I prefer to live among people in different places. Checking into hotels can be a bit restrictive socially and doesn't offer me many opportunities to learn from people who experience a place as part of their daily life. Couchsurfing lets me get out there and interact with interesting people and to understand the new environment around me.

Interests

I have a range of interests and am always open to different experiences. My favourite pastime is generally having a laugh and a good time with lots of different company. I'm also pretty good in a pub quiz :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Tom Waits, Leonard Cohen, Ian Dury and the Blockheads, Sex Pistols, Bob Dylan, Syd Barrett

Movies: Last Tango in Paris, Apocalypse Now, The Godfather (Brando's my favourite actor), Even Dwarfs Started Small, Gods of the Plague, The Exorcist, Aguirre: Wrath of God.

Books: Under the Volcano (Malcolm Lowry), Crash (JG Ballard), The Last Days of Hitler (Hugh Trevor Roper), The Erl King (Michel Tournier), Plants of the Gods (Albert Hofmann and Richard Evans Schultes), The Spire (William Golding), Someone's Husband, Someone's Son (Gordon Burn).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once scaled Ben Nevis in Scotland and toasted the achievement with a tot of Scotch whiskey in the hut at the summit. It felt like a very glorious moment up there with the wind whistling round the dry stone walls and the general feeling of elated exhaustion among my fellow climbers. I'd do it again tomorrow.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm an obsessive doodler and can teach general drawing rules and handy tips. I'm also a pretty good cook so can offer some tasty dishes. As an English language instructor I can help people hoping to improve their English skills.

I'd love to learn almost anything someone else can teach me but I'm especially interested in web design, SOEs, different food, and art.

I can share any knowledge/skills I might have and that anyone may be interested in and I offer them freely.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share good company, a sense of humour, a good meal (cooked by myself),
interesting conversation, a wealth of experience, and anything else I've got in terms of interest and enjoyment.
