About Me

I recently finished graduate school and I am traveling Argentina alone for 3 months. I hope to do many overnight treks while here in Argentina, and explore the mountains and nature. I plan to travel south all the way to Tierra del Fuego. My plans are very flexible. If I find out about a cool trail, lake, mountain, glacier... I will go. I am traveling with a tent and I want to camp most nights on this trip. Yo aprendiendo Espanol!
I am a wildlife biologist and one of the main reasons I like to travel is to explore new ecosystems and experience wild places. My second biggest passion is food. I am always cooking no matter where I am. Food is another reason I travel, as I love to learn how people cook in other places and cultures, and to try new things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

New experiences with new people! I want to meet interesting people and learn from them.

Interests

I like to play in the same place I work, the outdoors. I am happy just walking in the mountains, but sometimes I like to go fast on skis or a bike. I like to explore places that are far from roads or crowds. My love for food extends to the outdoors as well. To me a perfect meal is eaten outside, not far from where it was fished, hunted, gathered, or planted.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have really broad taste in music. I really like classic rock, folk and bluegrass music, and reggae.
I read a lot and my favorite author is Hemingway. I like nonfiction accounts of wild adventures, like polar explorers or mountaineers. I love fiction too and it is hard to pick an exact genre of fiction, I will read any book as long as it is good. Also, I will read through any cookbook.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I researched jaguars in the jungle of Belize for several years

Teach, Learn, Share

As I said, I am always cooking. So I am happy to teach cooking to others, and even happier to learn about new techniques and ingredients. I love to cook for others and share a meal.
I am also always ready for a conversation on ecology and wildlife. I have a lot of experience and education in this field and love to teach about these things. I also have a lot to learn, especially when I am in a new ecosystem with foreign plant and animal species.
I am in the process of learning Spanish!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook and I am always happy to do it. I am at ease cooking for only one or for a crowd. As a biologist I often live in field-houses with lots of other researchers in close quarters, and I know how to be clean and respectful of my surroundings when living with others.
I think I can offer good conversation. Especially when it comes to science and ecology. I love to teach others about my research.
