About Me

I grew up in Hartlepool, there's not much to do here since the bowling alley/laser tag place shut down so I've started travelling to see new places and meet interesting people.

I'm currently a freelance journalist because I enjoy writing and it gives me an opportunity to do things I wouldn't normally get a chance to. Like interview people who were famous 20 years ago or get into a beer festival for free.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because, while 5* hotels are all well and good, you don't meet as many interesting people.

Interests

I'm a big fan of sports, football mainly, though I make Emile Heskey look like Usain Bolt.

Also, if I've not mentioned it... I like writing. The creative sort mainly, not the stuff I do to keep the lights on.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really into music, but only the stuff your dad likes. Probably. Seriously, all of my tunes are pre 1996.

David Gemmell is my favourite author. Seriously, he's better than George RR Martin.

I watch a lot of films, mainly for review purposes. Lately, 10 Cloverfield Lane was outstanding right up until it went mental. Deadpool was a good laugh too.

Favourite film of all time? Toss up between Pulp Fiction and Kes.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'd say climbed Ben Nevis (tallest mountain in Britain, check the profile photo) but that's a touch pathetic compared to a lot of mountains.

I helped break a footballing world record once though. I'll let you guess which one.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can help you with your English, especially the writing side of it.

For the more adventurous amongst you, I can demonstrate why English cuisine is considered amongst the worst in the world. The ingredients are good, we're just useless cooks. When in doubt, add lard.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will bring beer and toilet roll. Everything a functional household needs!

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, United States, Wales

Countries I’ve Lived In

England, United States
