I'm a professional photographer with a background in photojournalism. I still work quite a bit for magazines and newspapers, but am balancing this with commercial work. I used to write human interest features, but these days on the rare occasions I write, it's mostly about travel or design.

Travelling is why I do what I do and I'm always looking forward to experiencing and new place and its people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Right now, I have travel lined up for Kuwait, Iran and the Philippines. I know know no one or not many people in all of these places, so seeing that friends have enjoyed Couchsurfing, thought it might be a great way for me to meet locals and gain insights into their cities.

Of course I'd look to return the favour for others.

My favourite film is Yi Yi by Edward Yang.

My favourite book is probably the Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald is my favourite author, but I also like Hemingway, Kurt Vonnegut, Milan Kundera, Paul Auster, Haruki Murakami and others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I flew from Melbourne to Freetown, Sierra Leone to begin a life in photojournalism in 2004 without much of clue about how to go about it.
