About Me

Hello! I'm Dave, and ever since I graduated 11 years ago, I've been wandering round the world travelling, teaching, and learning. Sometimes I consider packing it in, settling down, and getting a 'real' job, but experiencing new things, people and places is just too fun! I've spent most of my time in Latin cultures - Italy, Spain and Latin America - maybe because the sun and relaxed lifestyles offer the biggest contrast to my English upbringing! I'd like to see as much of the world as possible, and also develop as a person, and travel is the best way to achieve both of those goals!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I like couchsurfing because apart from making travelling a lot cheaper, it also means you can get to know local people and get a better insight into what it's like living somewhere. Whenever I've hosted or surfed I've always got something interesting from the experience.

Interests

Travelling - I try to keep the number of countries I've visited higher than the number of years I've been on the planet!
Trying new things - this year one of my challenges is to improve my Portuguese
Hiking - I tend to do a big hike every year. This summer I want to do the Rota Vicentina
Music - like listening to lots of stuff and going to live concerts
Sport - watching football and playing tennis/badminton/anything with a racquet

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - indie, rock, reggae, pop, fado, sertanejo, lots of other stuff!
Books - I like reading, especially books which are funny or which make you think. Catch-22 is my favourite book because it ticks both those boxes!
Films - Everything except horror!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Living abroad - opens your mind and introduces you to lots of interesting experiences.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a qualified TEFL teacher, and I can do a bit of juggling! I'd like to learn how to play the guitar and be more organised!
