About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I love travel, meeting international friends, and cultural exchange! I teach English to foreigners and I love exploring the world: I want to open my home to traveling friends and seek new friends and a couch/base to explore new cities and countries from!
ABOUT ME
I consider myself to be especially kind, funny, empathetic, honest, and really interested in hosting new friends and meeting other hosts to let me crash with them while I explore new horizons. I love travel and I especially love interacting with friends from other countries!
I'm a good guy who loves travel, and I seek to spend my years teaching kids (lots of fun!) and then traveling in the summer. I want to make connections around the world and learn about myself and the world in the process; I'd love to meet new friends along the way!
PHILOSOPHY
Well, I suppose I live life to keep on learning and having new experiences. I can't understand my high school friends who have lived in one town their whole lives and who work in retail and have no grand plans to travel or take big journeys. I live to explore and see new things and meet people! I've always been a poor student so now I'm finally reaching a point where I can afford to teach and make money to travel and really get to see the world and learn from people/experiences. I intend to teach 10 months out of the year and spend my summers traveling abroad and having good experiences.
I'm 26 and bridging that gap into true adulthood: as I age I intend to continue always teaching and always learning. I LOVE being a teacher and interacting with crazy, feisty, interesting, insane, awesome, horrible, fantastic, terrible, misbehaved, wonderful, funny, unique teenagers. But I need a break: so I wanna travel the world! My home is always open for travelers because I know how it can be, and, I want to host travelers and help them have a great adventure because I know what it's like to be a traveler myself and want to truly experience a place rather than just pass through and stay in a hotel and such.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed some couches in Australia in the summer of 2008 and New Zealand in the summer of 2009.
I grew up in NJ and moved way out to Washington, so, I host friends from the east coast as well as friends-of-friends whom I don't really know but get to meet (and then they become friends!). It's a great idea, really.
I've previously worked as a camp counselor and through that experience I met co-workers from all around the world: New Zealand, U.K., Germany, etc.. After camp ended I let them stay with me in NJ and took them around to Atlantic City/Philadelphia/New York/etc., and it was a lot of fun! I went traveling to Australia to go visit friends, including some from that camp experience.
As I see it, hotels and tourist traps are okay but they only give you a glimpse of life abroad. I think it's awesome to meet cool new friends and learn about their lives and hear their stories, and to host travelers so I can help them have their own great adventure. I totally, absolutely understand the concept of traveling inexpensively and trying to maximize cultural interactions while saving money: couch-surfing is a great way to do that, and I think it's pretty sweet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I went skydiving on January 1st in the year I turned 21. It seems insane in retrospect, but, totally cool! What a way to start a year...
Teach, Learn, Share
I like the outdoors and depending on timing when you come, I have two inflatable kayaks you could use (we're near water); and I know a lot of good spots to go (the local mountain, nature paths, etc) if you like the outdoors.
Well, some things I really enjoy: writing/poetry/spoken word; teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and all kinds of great strategies to work with language learners. I perform improv and you're welcome to come catch a show if your're here when I'm playing.
