ABOUT ME

I can be a bit shy at first, but once I warm up to you, I will talk your ear off until the sun is coming up. I am a pretty easy going, open-minded guy. I have strong opinions about almost everything, but I love hearing differing points of view... challenging myself and my beliefs.

I have not had the chance to travel much in the past, but I am changing that. I have a long list of places that I want to see and I am getting a late start. I want to meet the most amazing people in the world and experience the most amazing things!

After 7 years in the Army, I am finally finished with my military service and I have recently graduated from college. Now I can focus on traveling and having amazing experiences. I hope to make couch surfing a big part of those experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Mostly I have surfed. I have only hosted once, but that's only because people don't often travel to where I live. I always have a couch though, so I hope more people come through.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I surfed in Ireland and Italy in 2009. I hosted a group of folks in 2009. I surfed for a few days in Amsterdam in 2011 as well. The only issue that arrises for me is that it's sometimes difficult to find hosts as a male on these sites. All of my actual couch surfing experiences have been extremely positive.

Interests

My interests are broad and diverse. I love learning new things and having adventures. I love to travel and to write, to try new foods, and to experience new cultures. I love movies, reading, and music, and I try my hand at photography from time to time. I am always open for a new experience and I will almost always try something at least once.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies that are well written and well acted. I appreciate originality in movies and in music. Apocalypse Now is one of my favorite movies. Annie Hall, Godfather (I &II), Garden State, Amorres Perros, Pan's Labyrinth, City of God, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, Spinal Tap, Amelie, Pulp Fiction, Resevoir Dogs (anything Tarantino really)... to name a few

I love most music. I am a rocker at heart, but I like the softer stuff too. I dig reggae, jazz, blues, hip-hop and classical to name a few. Jack Johnson, Marley, Zepplin... etc.

as far as books go, I like classic philosophy. Milton, Neitzsche, Dante, etc. I am wrapped into Harry Potter and J.R.R. Tolkien books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have done plenty, but what I have experienced is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg as compared to the things I WILL do!

Teach, Learn, Share

Some things I can share with you about:
Military. Cinema. The Human Condition. Middle Eastern culture. Great tea. Mustache appreciation!

-Teach me how to cook, how to make an amazing bloody mary, how to tell liars, how to cut a mango correctly, the proper way to free climb cliffs and mountains, how to play the piano, guitar, violin or piccolo (I don't even know what the last one is). Tell me about life in Moldova, or summers in Helsinki... or the rainy season along the Hindu Cush... I have a lot to learn, so share something with me!!!
