About Me

CURRENT MISSION

During the past two years I've done a lot of travelling, so I thought it was time to stop for a little bit and focus on growing up on a different level. That's why I came back to Madrid and, at the moment, I've got a project very dear to my heart keeping me quite busy: I'm in the middle of rehearsals for the very first theatre play I wrote, in which I will also be starring and that will be premiering here in Madrid next July.
However, I promise I'll find a way to spend quality time with you, show you around and make you fall in love with Madrid as much as I am!

ABOUT ME

My name's David, but everybody calls me Dave. I'm 24 years old and I'm originally from Málaga, a very touristic city from the south of Spain famous for its sunny weather all year long (which I'm not particularly a fan of...surprisingly I'm way more of a winter kinda person), its beaches and its incredible gastronomy. However, I did move to Madrid (the place I consider my home, really) on my own when I was 17 to study and pursue a career in fashion. I studied and worked here as a stylist and a visual merchandiser for three years, and then I moved and lived in the UK for a year to keep doing the same. After that, I was quite fed up with everything and decided to quit so I could travel.

I went on a backpack trip through Europe and, since then, my life has never been the same. I learnt how you can be happy with only so little and got absolutely addicted to a life of adrenaline. Of course, at some point I ran out of money and had no choice but coming back to Spain and earning some more. After a short period working for a fashion brand called Gucci, I left again and went on a two months tour through the United States, hitting a total of 13 states with a really good friend of mine.
I'm not lying when I say that was the best experience of my life...you'll realize why when I tell you the story of what the friend I travelled with does for a living. But that'll have to wait till we can sit, have a few beers and talk face to face!

Anyways, back to what I was saying: entirely broke and with nothing inside my pockets again, I came back to Madrid once more and decided it was time to invest a little bit on my future. Oh, that's right! I forgot to mention: I studied and have always worked in fashion, but ended up actually hating it. So now I'm focusing on expanding the other areas of my life I have always considered my passions: writing, painting and acting.
I write for a few blogs and magazines each month, I take on illustration projects here and there and I'm studying and training myself in a few different acting methods.

I like staying busy and I'm definitely an outdoors kinda person. It also helps the fact that I don't really know how to cook at all- although I will make you the best white chocolate american cookies you've ever tasted!-, so I will most likely always suggest to go get dinner somewhere else instead of trying to kill you by my terrible cooking skills at home.

I'd consider myself a very talkative, easy going, open minded kind of person. Kindness, being polite, understanding and respectful towards other people's ideas, beliefs and opinions is definitely key to get along with me. I'm very outspoken and I have no problem politely calling out on someone when they're being rude, inconsiderate or unfair with someone else. I'll respect any political idea, religion or opinion you might have, even if they don't match mine. And of course, I'll ask you to do the same with me. Just be real and be honest and we'll be good.

If I agree on hosting you, I'll actually spend my time with you, include you on my life and will try and make you feel comfortable. That means if you're only interested in a place to sleep and that's about it, I'm probably not your guy. I don't like people who make me feel like I'm running a hostel. However, and since my apartment is so little- no kidding, it really is the size of a shoe box. Good thing is it's right in the middle of Madrid's city center, so you'll be able to walk everywhere-, I probably won't accept hosting requests for longer than a couple of days. It wouldn't be comfortable for neither you or me. I do accept last minute hosting requests though as I've been screwed myself a couple of times when travelling and know what it feels like not knowing where you're gonna sleep tonight, so feel free to contact me.

And that's about it! I'm sure there's a million things we could talk about and I'm forgetting right now, but I will for sure remember them with a beer or two and your great company once we get to know each other :)

Take care!
