Hello, I am an artist; visual artist and performer for the most part, but I know a great deal about aspects of many other arts, including music, film, theatre, poetry and literature. All these combine in the beloved art of Puppetry! :) Yay!

I am back in the Bay Area from a long trip around the country, in order to learn from some old pros the gags art and business of being a clown.

I Just came from a homestead/farm in Massachusettes, we practice alot of Substainable methods, cooking on the wood stove when we can, there is a straw bale house, a compost toilet, and we burn wood for heat!
In the afternoons we vigiled for peace, and I took some
Puppets to the big Protests in DC during the Spring.

The people at the homestead that I lived with were all great people, we lived in close quarters, so I know how to co-exist nicely.
We had fun nights of drawing silly comics, making up characters, watching movies, trips into town, out for a low key evening of dancing!
Now, I am back in California. I just landed a little job retouching murals in Berkeley! It's a big project with over one hundred murals, and I am excited. In the mean time I am couchsurfing until I am offered a house at the Co-operatives.

PHILOSOPHY

I am currently looking for a place to stay in Berkeley, CA. I participate by being a great guest so that my hosts continues to have more happy couch surfers stay with them. I would love to verify, but I can't afford to drop the twenty five Bucks right now: )

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have Couch surfed (not CS2, I am a new CS2er) in San Luis Obispo, CA, Boston, MA, Los Angeles, CA, East Harlem, NY, Las Vegas, NV, Portland, OR and Berkeley, CA. My hosts are allways certain to find something nice for them in the fridge, or a nice thank you letter. I allways keep find time to chat it up a bit. Also, I love to share my latest art I am working on, draw comics together, or play some simple instruments, like hand drums, together. I find it interested to see what others are doing. What do they find interesting, also, what is different culturally about the place I visit... in it's history and social/cultural life?

Interests

I like Bike Rides, hikes, walks, being outside: in the woods, forest or down a city street with lots of little shops, the smell of food in the air, park benches, and trees.
Also: working outside, performing outside, until it's too cold, too hot then chillin' on the front porch or retiring inside for food, talking, maybe going off by myself to draw and/or read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

...Climbed Half Dome to the first peak in the winter w/ no pick ax. Sky dived a couple years ago. Amazing! want to do it again. Swam in the ocean, took a boat from the coast of CA to Catalina island, saw dolphins, Whales, birds, and many fish in the ocean.

...Worked at Vertebrate Museaum of Zoology at UC Berkeley. Worked with bones, skin, and fossilized remains of millions of years old animals, animals from all over the world, beautiful endangered species confiscated from poachers by US governement.

...Been to protests in Washington DC and SF, CA and seen hundreds of thousands of people and their hopes for a better world.

I've seen lectures and performances from some of the world's best musicians, philosophers, religious leaders, scholars, and performers, including the First Lady of Brazil in 2002, one of Italy's state sponsored Philosophers, Steve Reich, the mimimalist composure who influenced all of Amrican Pop music, Michael Lerner, the Jewish leader for Peace in the Middle East, Daniel Barrigan, Catholic priest who helped to stop the Vietnam war by writing poetry and burning draft recorders until he was on the cover of Time, and Michael Franti speaking and singing at a protest in Los Angeles.

Spent the night under the stars in Yosemite, warm summers of Southern, California, and muddy and beautiful Vermont, and pebbled beaches of Baja, CA.

Lived in Community with many people, allways wonderful food, beatiful people and hope for the future.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people how to

-draw and illustrate
-paper mache'
-play simple drum patterns (or abstract minimalist pieces on the piano.)

I would like to learn more about Yoga for one thing. : ) An I am allways open to learning something that I don't know now about the world, in 3rd world economics, ie: WOrld Bank, IMF, and Substainability issues.

Also, I would like to learn how to go horse back riding!
