About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To be a courteous host and a respectful guest, but mostly to have fun... fun is fun!

ABOUT ME

Friends would say that I'm a super friendly person who helps and loves everyone, that I have a silly/dark sense of humor, and that I'm mostly very easy to get along with.

PHILOSOPHY

Ask me in person. I like to wax philosophical now and then.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a spare room and a futon for visitors, so maybe people will like to stay for a few days. =)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first "couchsurfing" experience was in the Peace Corps, where I stayed with a couple of host families over the course of my volunteering service. After that, I traveled to Northern Europe and couchsurfed a bit there. I aspire to prove myself here to the CouchSurfing community by hosting more often.

Interests

I spend a lot of time working on the computer, so I try to go out and socialize whenever I can find the time. Simple things are what make me really happy, these days: time with friends, cooking at home, reading for pleasure, doing yoga and swimming. I'm into music and art, too, and I love collecting records... Oh, and traveling, obviously.

Music, Movies, and Books

I make mixtapes and have a live radio show every week. Usually I play tunes for dancing but I like all kinds of music. Karaoke is fun, too.

I live close to Honolulu's art-house cinema (Kahala Theaters) and see movies there as much as I can. I like "serious" movies, but am sometimes a sucker for sci-fi & special FX flicks.

Books... Mostly I'm just reading math and programming textbooks lately. When it's up to me, I usually read fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The taco trucks in LA are srsly amazing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Broadly speaking, I'm here to share cultures. That could mean so many things—culture is a very powerful word. If we share two languages, I'd be glad to do a language exchange with you. I'd also be excited to swap lessons in our respective skilled trades: pair work in design and programming is one of the best ways to learn, and I'd like to offer my knowledge of those in exchange for mentorship in drawing, video and craft arts.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am fun, but also tidy. I like to help out in the kitchen and cook, and I like to bake mindblowing vegan desserts (I'm not vegan tho, heh) if I can get a helping hand. Personally, I would hate to freeload so I think it's important to bring something of value to my hosts. What that would be is open ended and depends on what the hosts would like. As a guest, I can promise to respect your house and the people (and pets!) in it.
