About Me

I have a small family with (soon to be) two kids and my wife. We work in around the Fort Worth area where we provide home based music therapy services for individuals with special needs. I am also actively involved in church. I love to cook, play chess, listen to music and anything provides me an opportunity to get to know my neighbors.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am traveling to and from my distance graduate program in Fort Collins, Colorado. Instead of staying at hotels, I would like to have a few friends in the area so that my semi frequent visits to Colorado can be less sterile and more friendly.

Interests

I love all kinds of music, but tend to favor the independent stuff. I especially enjoy when I get to play music with friends. I love to read, especially fantasy (Wheel of time). I love to play chess any chance I get.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: The Beatles, Beck, Ben Folds, Bjork, Broken asocial Scene, Cake, Feist, Freightened Rabbit, Gotye, Gungor, Iron and Wine, Jack White, Jay Z, Jon a Foreman, Jose Gonzalez, Justin Timberlake, Manu Chao, Paul Simon, Radiohead, Sigur Ros, St. Vincent, Sufjan Stevens, Tune Yards, Typhoon, Bampire Weekend, Walk the Moon, and many many more.

Movies: anything thought and conversation provoking. I love comedy and drama, and I've learned to enjoy kids movies. Action and scifi are great. I really just like movies.

Books: Enders Game, Mistborn, Wheel of Time, The Bible, Hunger Games, and all my text books. I'm new to reading as a hobby and only started in the last few years, but I read so much now and I'm always looking for suggestions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Currently my wife and I put together all of the community events for our apartment complex and help to build the community. In the last few years we have watched our home go from a collection of strangers to a place where everyone knows and cares for eachother. It's incredibly fulfilling to see people get to known eachother and become friends.

Teach, Learn, Share

I would love to learn about anything you're interested in. I enjoy things that help me get to know a person.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am happy to share my love of music with anyone interested. I also love to cook, especially socially. I also enjoy teaching (very beginning) chess.
