About Me

Hi there, I'm David, 19 years old and am a first year student at University of Groningen. I can't offer any premium experience (I have an air mattress and a sleeping bag available) as of now, but if you just want a place to crash for the night (or a couple of nights) then shoot me a message and I'll see what I can do to help you!

My main hobby is road biking. I ride races every now and then and love going on cycling holidays. This summer I did a pretty cool 1400km tour through the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Luxembourg. In Belgium I volunteered for the Transcontinental bike race, which I hope to participate in next year. During this holiday I usually just wild camped, which was really fun to do.

I don't have much Couchsurfing experience yet. I solely used it last year for 1 night to stay in Düsseldorf during a cycling holiday.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Participating in Alpe d´HuZes.

AD6 is a event hosted by KWF (Dutch Cancer Society) meant to raise money for cancer research. People participating cycle up the famous Tour de France climb Alpe d´Huez up to 6 times on one day (first Thursday of June) to gather money. I rode up 6 times in 2016 and 4 times in 2014 and raised about 4500€ in total. It really is an amazing event to participate in and the ambiance there is great. This year I also went there, but just as a volunteer. I had exams so didn't have time to raise money, but after the exams I could go there. I did some volunteering work and cycled all the major (and some minor) climbs in the area. On the last day I also did the Marmotte route, which was awesome because it was the first day the col du Galibier was opened and the snow at the top was a very beatiful sight.
