About Me

Jillian and I absolutely love meeting and hosting new people. Couchsurfing has brought many strangers into our home that we will now be friends with until the end of time. We love hosting and hope to one day travel and get to share in the experience more as surfers. As a host our home is open to all who are safe and easy to get along with. We hope it works out to welcome you to our home and our lovely city.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

It is easy to grow up thinking that the world only looks like the people we see everyday. Couchsurfing is a great venue through which we get to meet many other souls to remind us that the world is so much bigger and more beautiful than just the limited cultures, personalities, experiences, and ideas only encountered here in this tiny part of the world.

We also recognize that for many travelers there is a collision of two worlds. There is the beauty, excitement, joy, challenge, and triumph of traveling across unknown places. So much to see, do, and learn as you go. But at the same time, we've found many travelers who also miss home and miss truly feeling "seen" and "heard" because the pace is fast and life is always moving. Every now and then the space is right and we get to experience being family together. Our daughters love the people who come through our door and will treat you like you're family and we do the same. We love to sit and share a warm meal together and offer whatever space needed to just relax and feel like you're at home and not in a strange place. It is a gift for both sides.

Interests

I'd say that the things I'm most passionate about are people, food, and technology. I love meeting new people and feel there is so much to learn from others. Good conversation shared over great food just cant be beat. Food is so wonderful because it is such a great bridge to others. We all need it.
Jillian is an incredible artist with a great love for people, adventures and trying new things. She loves games and is always up for a good group game night if our guests are. She loves music and might be up for catching a live show in Mobile when you visit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

What comes to mind for me are the amazing people we’ve been able to meet more than something amazing we’ve done.

Teach, Learn, Share

A quote that sums it up:

"Only when we practice a hospitality that welcomes people while making it clear that we need something they offer us in return can transformation at the deepest level occur. When we live by the conviction that everyone brings a gift that someone else desperately needs, we move from hospitality to relationship. There is always a place for hospitality, but if we continually insist on being the host - the dispenser of hospitality - we essentially cling to privilege and ignore the gifts of others."

What I Can Share with Hosts

We love to share some great food, lots of laughter, a listening ear, and a safe place to rest.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bangladesh, Canada, Haiti, Lebanon, Mexico, Scotland, Spain
