About Me

Hey I’m David.
Covid has turned everything with travel and Couchsurfing on its head. But I’m not willing to give up hope. I look forward to exploring the world more and meeting lots of great people again soon.

I’m an electrician turned technical writer with a degree in classical philology, so I have complex interests. I’m a laid back guy, not a big party animal. Love meeting new people and learning new ways of doing things. Trying to re-find my self a bit I guess. I come from the big city (Toronto) but have lived 13 years out in the danish countryside, and moved in 2022) to the Stockholm area.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have travelled a fair bit in my life, and, while the sights and sounds are exciting, the best part has always been connecting with local people who can add depth and insight into locations a guidebook just can’t.

Interests

I like being out in nature, history and architecture, culture and anthropology, climbing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Almost any kind of music: classical, electronic, country, pop, rock, world, you name it. I mainly read non fiction, and ancient literature. Films: foreign, SCI-FI(Trekkie), fantasy (LOTR, Pans labyrinth), documentaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Stood on the top of the highest peak in the tatras.

Teach, Learn, Share

A bit DYI. Self-sustainability (Grow a lot of my own food, chop down my firewood, build/renovate my home). Always looking for tips and ideas.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I’m pretty decent in the kitchen, both with Canadian and Danish cooking, and I’m handy, amongst other things.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Bahamas, Barbados, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Portugal, Scotland, Sweden, United Kingdom, United States, Vatican City State, Wales
