I am friendly, polite, tidy, chatty and quite extrovert. I love travelling and meeting new people. I have done much of this travelling as part of my experiences as a Maritime Archaeologist, digging underwater, or doing land archaeology work, or just a holiday somewhere scuba diving. I have done excavations in Croatia underwater, as well as in Scotland and the UK. I have done kand archaeology projects in the heart of Rome in the Forum, as well as in the wild of the mountains in Greece on stone age sites. I have been involved in several digs and diving archaeology projects in finland.
The other part of my professional life has been as a nurse in many different areas, but particularly as a specialist in London, around the Uk, and even 3 years in Saudi Arabia, where I mixed my working life doing community nursing, seeing both princes and the poor, and my days off scuba diving, or organising archaeological tours and seminars for expats and Saudis, visiting volcano craters, or watching turtles laying eggs on beaches in the middle of the night, or ancient forts...and as for the Pyramids.....

I believe in life being a spiritual journey, but although raised Catholic, dont follow any strict religious rules. I scuba dive every few weeks, I play Dungeons and dragons weekly (have done it since i was a teenager),like science fantasy books, like history, and visiting sites and castles, play badminton when i can, and recently have had swimming lessons for the first time since i was 11, ,,,,collect too many books...and watch too much TV, which i should spend reading..and for my sins I occasionally support Chelsea.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people, gain new insights from others peoples perspectives, see new places, but realisitically also and somewhere to stay while Im visiting places or expanding my work experiences. Im Happy to find out who you are, I am very comfortable with persons from other cultures or lifestyles, but I can also be discreet and sensitive of your privacy. I care about people and try to help where possible.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent 3 hours underwater hanging upside down on A Roman harbour site in Croatia finding the tops of 2000 year old glass cups and amphorae, then absorbed in the drawing, recovery to the surface and preparation for the museum for others to come and see in the future---it was bliss, lost in another world, like an upside down spaceman.

I can help with sharing information about the past of different cultures, stories about my archaeological adventures in several countries, especially ancient world cultures. I have been scuba diving and doing underwater surveys and excavation in several countries including the Caribbean and the Red Sea,and the Mediterranean.
