About Me

Hey there :)
I think of myself as an easygoing person, and I believe that's it is through our relationship with others that we find ourselves and give meaning to our lives, so I am trying to meet new people to enrich my life and hopefully do the same to others.
I used to be an "introvert", generally playing it safe, doing things as they are "supposed to", and following every rule (and in part I still am) but I've come to realize that by living like that we are limiting and depriving ourselves of many rich experiences and "truly living"! So I am trying to be open to new experiences, get a bit out of my confort zone and just feel alive :P
I am a firm believer in the power of a smile, I like making jokes (although lame ones most of the time!), and enjoy a good intelectual exchange where both sides can learn something and as long as there is mutual respect. I treat others as I like to be treated, first with politeness and good will, then opening up as I get to know the person and build a stronger empathy (or not), which generally happens as long as people are truthful and open-minded ;)
I also like reading, specially grand fiction or something with an impactful humane message (or both, like "1984" and "Solaris"), sports (doing, more than watching), and discovering new things - interesting people, beautifull places, curious facts ...
So after all of that, how about you tell me something about yourself!?

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a way of finding new places and meeting new and interesting people; the whole ideology behind its creation seems great to me, and I hope I can provide a great experience to others through teaching something, sharing experiencies or just offering a smile, and also discover something from them.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a mostly still ingnorant but open-minded music lover :P I usually enjoy some lively rock (ex: Linkin Park, Offspring and Avenged Sevenfold), but some cool jazz or even classical music are also very enjoyable, depending on the mood.
As for books some examples of my favorite books are 1984 (by George Orwell), Fahrenheit 451 (by Ray Bradbury) and Catch22 (or it's medical counterpart, The House of God, by the same author - Samuel Shem). They all combine some amazing storytelling and impressive imagination as a way of expressing an important message about humane nature and the fundamental value of our lives. Or putting it some other way, they are the books that made me breathe
heavily and pause for a second when I finished and put them down on the table :P

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hugging and dancing with (adolescent) aligators in Florida :P

What I Can Share with Hosts

Good humor and bad jokes, enthusiastic talking and attentive listening!
I can try and share some portuguese recipes, although I'm not a great cook, but I can at least tell you a bit about our stories and great places to visit in Portugal.
A practice partner for the languages I do speak, or a confused blank stare for those I can't understand (but if you are willing to teach me a few words that's great!)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belize, Croatia, France, Greece, Italy, Spain, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States
