About Me

Hey All! I'm an American living in Seattle, and I work in mental health. I finally have my own apartment, and can now host people without worrying about roommates!

Several years ago, I finished a two month tour of Europe. I met so many fun, intelligent, and interesting people; I just love how the excitement of travel brings people together. I received much kindness during my travels from strangers, I would love to pay some of that forward through hosting people when I can here in Seattle.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I initially joined couchsurfing because my roommate introduced me to it. He hosted cool folks from all around the world in our apartment, and they were always interesting experiences. I ended up becoming a surfer myself as I took a two month trip around Europe. I was inspired by the friendships that arose from staying with people, and through the Hangouts portion of the app. My hosts were so kind, and I want to pay some of this kindness back by hosting people and being a contributing member of the community.

Interests

I'm a very musical person, and I enjoy concerts and live shows of all kinds. I know how to play guitar/drums, and love to jam with people. I also enjoy relaxing in nature through hiking and backpacking. I love good company, chilling at a bar, having a good conversation that makes you forget time is passing. I BSing just as much as I love deep conversations about art, philosophy, and psychology. I'm also a fan of both tabletop games and video games.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I'm a fan of heavy metal, punk rock, classic rock, folk, bluegrass, alt-country, shoegaze, and some forms of electronica. In particular, I'm big fans of bands/artists like Agalloch, Panopticon, Deafheaven, Alcest, Les Discrets, Slowdive, Anathema, Explosions In The Sky, Nirvana, Alice In Chains, New Found Glory, Blink 182, Against Me!, Hank Williams, Sturgill Simpson, and so many others.

Movies: I enjoy movies that are thought provoking, have well written character driven stories, and/or are visually stunning, such as The Grand Budapest Hotel, Drive, and The Matrix. I'm also a fan of silly b-movies, the kind that MST3K would enjoy riffing.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I wandered the ruins of an abandoned castle in the Austrian countryside. I had to climb a short rock wall to get inside!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a good listener, I've been told that I'm a good sounding board to bounce ideas off of, so if you need to talk something out, I can help you out there.

I also know a little bit of guitar, I could teach a little bit, and I'm of course open to jam sessions!

If anyone knows how to cook, this is something I still need help with.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I mean, I am a therapist. At the very least, I've been told I'm a fairly good listener!

I enjoy socializing, but can take care of myself fairly easily. I will also happily help with clean-up and other household chores.
