About Me

A couple of notes: I encourage you to send messages/requests despite the low response rate. I've been living in the mountains for a while (both literally and figuratively), so I haven't previously been on top of responding to messages. I'd like to host some people to get my 'stats' up! I'll be out of Scotland from the beginning of June until September 2020, so I won't be able to oblige any requests within that period. As much as I'd like to be in Edinburgh for fringe, I'll be living outside of the country at that point!

"The wind is rising, we must try to live!"
I seek to know myself, and one of the best ways to do that is through knowing others. If I can offer my home - or be welcomed into the homes of others - if only for a few days, then I believe that I'll understand myself that much better, and have one friend more!

While education is important - what is a soul without adventure!? It is something rooted in our very being! It appeals to our innate curiosities - a person without the spirit of adventure is hardly a person at all! I simply wander, but I am far from lost.

You have my solemn pledge that I will try be one of the best guests (or hosts) that you've ever had.

I'm not an introvert by any means, but I'd usually prefer a small gathering of friends with good conversation to a large party.

Philosophy: "It is not death that a man should fear, he should fear never beginning to live." - Marcus Aurelius

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Seeing interesting and unusual places! I think this website is the best means of getting a genuine experience when visiting a foreign country. There's no sense in people hiding in their corner of the earth, so I'd like to get out there and meet people from all walks of life, and I hope that you feel the same way!

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favorite bands and musicians include: Jamiroquai, Nujabes, Hall and Oates, Roxy Music, and David Bowie.

My all-time favorite film would be Hedwig and the Angry Inch, close seconds to that would be Lawrence of Arabia, and There Will Be Blood (Or any film with Daniel Day-Lewis in it, really).

My favorite author is Jules Verne, and I enjoy most of his works, especially Around the World In Eighty Days, but if I had a favorite book, it would likely be Don Quixote.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I nearly drowned in an Alaskan river in Denali National Park. Amazing? Maybe not. Exciting? Definitely!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I can teach you how to do integral and differential calculus, if that interests you. Otherwise, I can teach you how to play Riskopoly: a hybrid of the games Risk and Monopoly.

Learn: I'd like to learn about various regional customs and traditions from locals. I have a particular fascination and interest in ancient societies, such as the Romans and Greeks.

Share: "I know the kings of England and can quote the fights historical, from Marathon to Waterloo in order categorical." I love history, and I tend to know a lot of facts that may otherwise seem useless (I'm very good at trivia).

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a good laugh and a witty anecdote, and I've also a million jokes, which I can share with you too! I also have a clay ocarina that I made, which I can play tunelessly and intend to bring with me on my travels from here on in.
