My name is David Fackler. I grew up in San Diego, California where I spent most of my time playing either baseball or video games. I moved to Colorado when I was 18 to snowboard and go to college. Since then I have gotten into climbing, mountain biking, and fly fishing as well. I got my Master’s degree in Business Analytics from CU Boulder in 2015 and have been working as a Data Scientist in Denver for three years. Recently I quit my job and decided to take 8 months off work to live in my truck and travel around North America before flying abroad.

I work as a Data Scientist, previously in the direct marketing industry, and hopefully soon in the biometric analytics industry. I am particularly interesting in apply biometric data for early diagnosis and habit change.

My travels are planned to continue through February 2020 and will be filled with mountain biking, fly fishing (poorly), rock climbing, and Python practice. I am headed to Northern India in November to attend my second 10 day silent Vipassana retreat (dhamma.org). After that, I will be flying to New Zealand for New Years celebrations and to hike the Milford Great Walk in mid-January. You can check out my progress at davidfackler.com.

I intend to return to the States in early 2020 and find a position as a Data Scientist in the biometric analytics or healthcare industry and work to reduce the suffering and expense far upstream of an ER visit.

I can teach basic programming along with the basics of each of the activities I have mentioned. I taught English for a week but I doubt anyone here needs much help there :)

I’m always excited to learn more about the places I’m in, the people I meet, and how others see the world.

I think self-actualization is the basic human need so that is path I am trying to find and follow. Every person has something special to share with each other if they can talk kindly for a short time.
