About Me

Hey there!

I'm an easy going and relaxed dude, I'm quite flexible and do not plan too much ahead, I often like to take the day as it comes and just enjoy the moment and not think too much about tomorrow, unless there is work or something special planned of course.

Photography is one of my big passions in life and I have been studying documentary/press photography for 1 year and Industrial photography (products, architecture, fashion, portrait, commercial/AD) for 2 years.
I first started taking pictures around 8 years old, but it became a passion during my later teenage period.
Been through it all... from analog cameras with film in different formats, developing my film by hand, spending hours and hours under the cosy red light in the darkroom while hand printing to shooting and editing digital :)

Have been living in Asia and working with photography and video (post production) in China (Beijing), Viet Nam (Ha Noi) and Thailand (Bangkok) for some years. Great experience and something I would do again if the right opportunity and offer shows up. Asia has for sure became my favourite part of the world.

Unfortunately photography is not my occupation nowadays,
but I still shoot a lot and work with my photography at home from time to time.

Other things I enjoy to do is watching sports, mostly football (soccer) and ice hockey.
Another passion in life is to be out in the nature, the wilderness.
And if the nature is situated close to the sea or a lake I also enjoy to fishing... it's my way of yoga and mindfulness.
Hmm what more... beer and whiskey :P

I am born and raised in the Kingdom of Sweden, but my mom are from Poland.
Unfortunately I don't speak much Polish :/
But I have been visiting Poland regularly during my grow up, feels like a second home to me in some way.
I have also made a photo project + exhibition about my relation to my "second country" :)

I live in an apartment in an old wooden house from the shift between 1800-1900 century in Gröndal (a small and charming suburb with lots of water and green areas just right outside the inner town of Stockholm), it is more or less the same since it was built except that it nowadays have a full functional kitchen, a toilet and electrical heaters.
It's a quite unique place to live in, even if Stockholm still have some of those old houses left spread around and in town.
It was mainly built for the areas industrial- and harbour workers and their families back then, and these days it has a conservation/protection classification by the Stockholms Stadsmuseum for it's historical value in the area.

For some more information about the surfing here and public transportations, pls check under "My Home".

If you wanna see a few samples of my photography work (shot with both analog and digital cameras), you can do it by following this link (while I'm working on a more proper and updated website for the future): https://fennmanphotography.tumblr.com/

And btw, Yes... I am in love with palm trees, just the sight of them makes me all warm and happy inside.

OK, enough info... ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Been on CS before during 2013-2014, but then paused/removed my account and took a longer brake from it due to lack of time and space.
During that period I hosted around 10 people in total.
I see it as a nice change from ordinary day life, a chance to meet people I probably would never meet otherwise, have a nice dinner company and to help make it possible for people with less economy and travel budget to be able to experience the (expensive) capital of Sweden, Stockholm.

I have only been surfing at "strangers" myself once so far, I went alone to Palma de Mallorca with a last minute ticket over a weekend to celebrate my birthday in 2017 and had absolutely nothing prepared or arranged.
It went so so I must say... I found out it's really hard to find a host unless you have "booked" it in far advance.
But at least I found one person who could host me for at least 1 night out of 3 in total. It really helped out a lot.
She was really great as a host, outstanding! And I was very happy and grateful for her kindness :)

It's just too much and mixed to pick out favorites!
You will notice or know when hanging out with me :)

Hint (music): I listen A LOT to BBC Radio One (house/club/electronic).

But also jazz (e.g. Chet Baker, Nina Simone, Dave Brubeck), rock (e.g. Chris Cornell, Bruce Springsteen), Baroque and Classical, country + a lot of other types of music...

OK then, having a long walk on The Great Wall of China.
