Overview
About Me
We have been adventuring through life together for over 25 years. She's a professor at MSU and he has worked in cooperatives most of his life. We are empty-nesters, so that gives us the freedom to roam and the space to host others. We have four dogs. Our politics are progressive but not overbearing. We can have a spirited chat about almost anything and love hearing what others think... it's a great way to learn how to see things in a new light. Overall, we are a friendly couple who gets along with a wide variety of people and enjoy meeting new friends.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
We have always traveled on the cheap staying with friends, in hostels, camping, and B&Bs. We love meeting new folks at the various places we visit and find that being welcomed into someone's home (or welcoming them into ours) is much more our style than staying in the relative isolation of a hotel.
Interests
He is most passionate about creating a cooperative economy and communities where everyone has at least their basic needs met. She is interested in Social Justice work and how it relates to the field of Social Work. She knits, draws, writes fiction, and like to bake. He enjoys vegetarian cooking and is trying to learn how to play guitar. He has spent a good amount of time playing around with air-cooled VWs and in recent years we've taken up motorcycling (we both ride our own). We enjoy the arts, especially live performances like plays, opera, and music festivals.
Music, Movies, and Books
We tend to like folk, blues and jazz the most, but we listen to everything from country to rap (if indeed those are two ends of a spectrum... we think that they probably are not). Movies - everything from documentaries to rom-coms. Books - all manner of reading is delightful, and we never seem to have time to read as much for enjoyment as we'd like.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Adopting our daughter as a teenager would be the one we'd pick, not because it was an amazing thing to do on our part, but because it was an amazing experience and she has brought so much joy and learning into our lives.
Teach, Learn, Share
We are pretty good at cooking vegetarian food - we once had a vegetarian restaurant in Madison, WI that we opened with some friends of ours there.
