About Me

Hi, I'm David. I am a Computer Science student living near Toronto. I grew up in Israel and moved to Toronto as a child. I am interested in rambling discussions, exploring new places, learning and trying cool new things. I love football (soccer); both to watch matches and play, and I love just being outdoors in general. I really enjoy attending unique cultural events too! Really, I like just wandering around and exploring.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on CouchSurfing in order to meet people! I like to travel and meeting local people in new places would be the best way to really see and feel a new place. I've backpacked twice before, both times in South-East Asia for 4 weeks and 6 weeks. I want to experience different cultures for what they authentically are! :)

Interests

  • cycling
  • hiking
  • nature walks
  • football soccer

Music, Movies, and Books

I like electronic music (Thievery Corporation, Infected Mushroom) but in general I like anything that sounds good. I enjoy listening to live music a lot.

I don't actually read very much, I prefer to listen to lectures/ talks. I really like Alan Watts.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed to the peak of an active volcano in Bali starting at 2:00 AM to see the sunrise. It was such a satisfying experience and I've had the urge to go on a large-scale hike/climb like this again but there is a shortage of peaks around me in Southern Ontario.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am interested in neuroscience and have a budding interest in Zen from my studies in Buddhist Psychology at University and listening to/reading Alan Watts' books and lectures. I like talking about whatever deeply interests people and some of my favorite memories are from long conversations about seemingly senseless questions.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am a pretty basic cook but I would be willing to help and do as much as a host would need from me. I am capable of driving automatic-transmission cars if that is of any use. I am able-bodied and capable of helping out with any physical work or cleaning which the host wants.

Countries I’ve Visited

Cuba, Czech Republic, England, Germany, Indonesia, Italy, Malaysia, Mexico, Singapore, Thailand, Ukraine, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
