About Me

I'm a Spanish lad living and working as a Software Developer in Barcelona. I was born and raised in Madrid, but I spent a year abroad in California during the third year of my degree. I'd say that I'm much of a city boy, but I also find it amusing to discover some places in nature, like National Parks.

Travelling is one of the things that I love most in this life. I consider myself a very social person and I'm always looking forward to meeting my friends. In this regard I'm a very family-oriented person, which I guess is why all the Harry Potter tests sort me in Hufflepuff, but I just don't like yellow haha I always thought I'd be more of a Ravenclaw because I was very proficient in academia and blue is my favourite colour, but maybe this is a bit off topic :P

Despite my science and technology background, I'm very interested in languages and I would love to learn a third language - probably German, since I already speak two Romance languages (Spanish and French). I always enjoy debates about the differences between languages from different groups: some people freak out with the amount of tenses that exist in Spanish and I freak out with the amount of cases there are in Slavic languages. But you know, different strokes for different folks!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Now that I'm living in England, I'd like to take the chance and explore other parts of the UK. I think couchsurfing can be a great way to meet new people and make friends during my trips around the country.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly like pop music, but also some rock. In general I don't have any favourite artist or group, but I like a lot of Glee covers and some Katy Perry songs. I do have a thing for good soundtracks.

In terms of movies, I think the genres I enjoy most are comedies and romantic comedies, like Love Actually. Many Pixar and Disney movies are also amongst my most liked.

When it comes to books, I found myself liking crime novels (in particular the Dave Gurney series) and a bit of fantasy (like Percy Jackson).

Finally, there are some books and film adaptations of them that always come to my mind when I think of my favourites: the Harry Potter series and the Dan Brown series (Da Vinci Code, Inferno, etc).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few years ago, a good friend of mine who lived in a city far from my hometown invited me to her birthday party because it had been over 2 years since we had last met. I told her that I was unable to attend because it overlapped with a few other things that I had in my agenda and I convinced her by all means that it was impossible. Meanwhile, I got in touch with her parents and her best friend and I started arranging a surprise trip to her city in order to attend the party. Her birthday party was right after her final exams at uni, and it was the day of her last exam that I went there. Her best friend picked me up and we went to my friend's uni, where I showed up right after her last final, leaving her in shock with the whole surprise :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not really sure what should go in here, to be honest :D

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a well-educated person and I think I can hold a good conversation in many topics. I find that I always have some nice stories to share with new people and I'm always willing to hear other people's personal stories as well.

I can also bring some card games along, and enjoy a game evening!
