About Me

I'm fun, polite, and just finished my doctorate in physical chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. I love to dance Swing, Blues, Fusion, and hope to start learning Tango when I get back to California.

I'm traveling Europe in January, February and March (2017) before I start my new job in April. I'm here to meet new people and learn about the things that they live for. I already meet and host traveling dancers when they come to the Bay Area, so I'm excited to have a new way to continue doing that when I get home.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My favorite part of traveling is meeting other people, and if I can save a little money too then why not? More for food. I collect stories from people as I travel and trade the best ones with new people - what better way to find new stories?

Music, Movies, and Books

I love swing and blues music, but also down-tempo music (Kings of Leon, London Grammar) and strangely enough, Canadian folk music (Stan rogers, Schooner Fare).

Books! I love books, particularly fantasy, sci-fi, and anything with magical realism in it. I also have a lot of friends who are librarians, so I have come to appreciate the way books are stored, bound, preserved... I am probably a nerd.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been stranded in Casablanca, Jerusalem and London without money, phone, or plan and I got home safe every time.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach blues dancing and swing dancing, and I love to cook. I also just finished a doctorate in physical chemistry studying renewable energy, so I would be very happy to talk about my research! You probably don't want me to though so I won't unless you ask.

I would love to share these with you if you are interested!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Apart from thank-you gifts, I am happy to teach dance lessons, cook food, share stories, and talk about science and philosophy.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, England, France, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Morocco, Netherlands, Portugal, Scotland, Switzerland, United States
