Soy David Herrera, mexicano ya desde hace mucho tiempo que descubrí que salir a conocer el mundo es algo magnifico. Desde joven me gusto viajar y tuve la oportunidad de conocer muchos lugares, pero fue hasta que me fui a estudiar a Irlanda que descubrí que era lo que más me gustaba hacer, el reto de irme a vivir a otro lugar donde ni siquiera hablaban mi idioma termino termino por ser una experiencia inolvidable donde tuve muchas satisfacciones y donde conocí gente hermosa.
Posteriormente a esa experiencia tuve la oportunidad de salir en un viaje mochilero con un amigo por Chiapas y Guatemala, conocí tantos lugares y me pasaron tantas cosas interesantes que comencé a planear un viaje largo. Regrese a mi trabajo en Aguascalientes y comencé a ahorrar, y junto con mi amigo de la infancia Luis Romo decidimos aventarnos a conocer Latinoamérica, el viaje duro más de dos años y tuvimos la suerte de llegar hasta Ushuaia en Tierra de Fuego en Argentina.
Este viaje fue la mejor cosa que había hecho en mi vida, luego volví por un tiempo a mi país, regrese a trabajar, pero esto no duro mucho pues quería seguir conociendo. Volví a viajar un poco por México y luego cruce el océano para llegar a Europa, y cumplir mi sueño de conocer Italia.

My name is David Herrera, I am mexican, since I was Young I discovered that travel is one of my favorite things. When I was kid I used to travel a lot with my family. When I finish University I got the opportunity to study a Master in Ireland, at the begining it sound like a difficult challenge but at the end I spent almost two years over there, I met lovely people and the most of my memories are beautiful. After that I came back to Mexico and I took a travel to the south of Mexico and Guatemala, it was more like a back packer experience, all the things that happend to me and all the places that I visit in that opportunity were like magic, so as soon as I came back to Aguascalientes (my hometown) I decided to plan something big. I saved money for one year and with my friend from childhood and we decided to do a trip from Mexico to Ushuaia, the southest part of Argentina with the intention of visiting all the countries from Latin America, the trip last more than two year, we always have good experience we visit the most magical places, and met wonderful people.
This trip was te best thing I have ever done in my life, after that I went back to my home town, worked for a while but it did not last long, because I wanted to keep knowing plces. I starte traveling in Mexico and after that I crossed the ocean to be in Europe to achieve my dream of traveling in Italy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Cuando decidimos viajar por Latinoamérica la gente comenzo a mencionar Couchsourfing, y desde que hice mi perfil y comence a utilizarlo siempre he tenido la suerte de conocer grandes personas que nos han ayudado mucho, creo que una persona que viaja usualmente abre su mente y su corazón, y la gente que esta en couchsourfing la mayoría de las veces ha viajado mucho es por ello que es un placer ser parte de esta comunidad.

When we started our trip around Latin America, people told me about Couchsourfing, since I started using it, I have met really interesting people that helped us a lot. I believe that someone who travels always open his heart and his mind, and members of couchsourfing have traveled a lot, that is why I feel honored of being part of this community.

Interests

Hoy más que nunca me interesa conocer gente de otros lugares, conocer lugares interesntes y vivir las experiencias que uno se va encontrando durnte el viaje.
A mi me gusta cocinar, me gusta mucho platicar con la gente cuando llegó a un nuevo lugar. A mi desde hace algunos años me gusta escribir, actualmente con el viaje escribo mucho desde pensamientos libres, columnas para un blog, un diario, un archivo de recetas de comida, entre otras cosas que puedan ir surgiendo.
Otra pasión que tengo es el arte siempre me ha gustado esa forma de expresión, me gusta mucho la música en particular pero siempre me ha gustado ir a eventos culturales, y durante el viaje creo que el arte le da mucha información a uno que busca aprender. También encuentro en el deporte una de las disciplinas màs lindas que ha desarrollado el humano, por lo cual me gusta estar enterado del deporte en general y me encanta practicar deportes en especial el futbol y el basquetbol.

I am very interested in knowing about different cultures, how people are, the different kind of food, the art they have and all that. I also love writing and I can say that at the moment writing is my number one pation, I also listen to music and the last few months I m getting interest in dancing also.

Music, Movies, and Books

Música: Principalmente me gusta el rock y el reggae, pero también disfruto música clásica, incluso ópera, jazz, mùsica folclòrica.
Películas: Amores Perros, Diarios de Motocicleta, cine de arte en general.
Libros: el último que leí fue "De Profundi" de Oscar Wilde, me gusta mucho García Márques, Jaime Sabines, Juan Rulfo, esos son los que se me vienen a la mente en estos momentos.

Music: I like well produced music, when you see the art behind it, my favorite styles go from classical music, to rock music, reggae, folk and all kind of prehispanic or antique music.
My favortie movies, when i was kid I like home alone, nowadays I like directors like Tarantino, the mexican González Iñarritu, Guillermo del Toro, and mainly what is called cine de arte, art cinema.
Books, I like Oscar Wilde books, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Juan Rulfo, Jaime Sabines, Mario Benedetti, Julio Cortazar, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Creo que lo que más orgullo me da es haber viajado, primeramente creo que la experiencia que tuve de vivir un tiempo en Irlanda me marcó, y segundo creo que el haber hecho un viaje por todo Latinoamerica me convirtio en una persona mucho más humana y me enseño a valorar mucho algunas cosas que son importantes en la vida y otras que no. Los viajes me han enseñado que la vida es para disfrutarla y que si tienes ganas de sentir la magia de la gente y de la naturaleza hay que salir.

WHen I lived in Ireland I grew up a lot, but after that the trip around Latin America taught me so many things, I understood that there are things in life that matters and others that society want to make us think that matter but they do not in reality. Travel showed me that life is to enjoy it, and that magic exists, you will find it in nature and in the heart of the good people.

Creo que un viaje es meramente un intercambio cultural, yo soy una persona muy curiosa y siempre estoy preguntando cosas, y me encanta platicar sobre mi país y sobre como hacemos o decimos las cosas.
