About Me

Hi! My name is David, I am a Taiwanese American from San Francisco and Taipei.

I'm a freelance illustrator and designer who graduated from Rhode Island School of Design. I've been in NYC for the past three years. I travel often between San Francisco, Europe, Providence, and Taipei.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I showed a few people around while I was in Taiwan, and it was a great experience. I felt like I got to know my own country better and went to places I never been to (even though I grew up there)

Whenever I travel, I like to see the place through the lens of the locals, rather than going to the expected destinations.

Interests

As an illustrator, I spend most of my spare time doing illustrations, whether it's personal or for publications.
I'd say if I wasn't an illustrator I probably would've wanted to become an anthropologist, linguist, chef, or historian.

I love cooking, and I love food, it's truly great entryway into learning a new culture.

I also enjoy going to concerts, especially jazz.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:

My mother is a music teacher at a local school growing up. I grew up listening to church hymns, classical, and now I'm all grown up, I listen to mostly anything, especially jazz, classical, and folk music around the world.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think Gullfoss (the huge waterfall) in Iceland is one of the most breathtaking sights I've ever seen in my whole life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm interested in many things, I love to talk about art history, language, linguistics, art philosophy, as well as anything food related!

I'm fluent in both Chinese and English and have been learning French on and off for 8 years, I would be more than happy to do a language exchange.

I can also teach you how to draw if you're interested! and if you're a fellow artist, designer or just an art enthusiast, I can always give you constructive advice or critiques! :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can draw you a portrait! :)

we can eat and make art! or go to concerts and museums! Hiking! Biking, to be honest I'm down for most things!
