Born and raised near Glasgow in Scotland, studied in Manchester, then moved to Dundee to teach High School Maths. Year by year, I found it increasingly hard to convince pupils that education was worth engaging with, so decided to travel the world looking for students who actually want to learn. After three years teaching in Guatemala and another three in Bucharest, I am now in Qingdao, hoping to get my country total to 100 in the next three years

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I moved to Guatemala City the nicest, friendliest, most inclusive people I met were couch-surfers. I want to keep in touch with them and meet more people like them everywhere I go

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Romania for 3 months when I was 17, volunteering in an orphanage and teaching English to street kids. It changed my outlook forever and made me much more grateful for everything I have
