Born and raised near Glasgow in Scotland, studied in Manchester, then moved to Dundee to teach High School Maths. Year by year, I found it increasingly hard to convince pupils that education was worth engaging with, so decided to travel the world looking for students who actually want to learn. I moved to Guatemala in August 2017 and everything was better. Now I’m teaching in Bucharest and trying to visit every European and West Asian country before I move again next year.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

When I moved to Guatemala City the nicest, friendliest, most inclusive people I met were couch-surfers. I want to keep in touch with them and meet more people like them everywhere I go.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived in Romania for 3 months when I was 17, volunteering in an orphanage and teaching English to street kids. It changed my outlook forever and made me much more grateful for everything I have.
